Job DescriptionJob Title: Machinist Job Description The Machinist sets up, operates, and maintains CNC mills and lathes to produce precision metal components for heavy industrial applications. This role interprets complex blueprints and GD&T specifications, adjusts machine parameters and tooling to meet tight tolerances, and performs in‑process inspections to ensure consistent part quality. The Machinist works with a variety of heavy‑industrial metals, troubleshoots machining issues on the floor, and performs basic G‑code edits at the machine. This position also supports continuous improvement initiatives and routine machine maintenance in a high‑volume manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC mills and lathes to produce precision metal components for heavy‑industrial applications., • Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications to ensure parts meet design requirements., • Adjust machine parameters, tooling offsets, and workholding to achieve tight dimensional tolerances and consistent quality., • Perform machine setups, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and program loading for new and repeat jobs., • Conduct in‑process inspections using calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measurement tools., • Monitor machining operations to verify proper feed rates, spindle speeds, tool condition, and overall part quality during production runs., • Troubleshoot machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, incorrect offsets, and material inconsistencies, making appropriate corrections at the machine., • Perform basic G‑code edits directly at the machine to fine‑tune programs and correct minor issues as needed., • Work with a range of heavy‑industrial metals, including carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and other high‑strength materials., • Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment in a high‑volume, heavy‑manufacturing environment., • Maintain accurate production records, inspection logs, and job travelers for traceability and quality documentation., • Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on tooling selection, machining processes, and workflow efficiency., • Perform routine machine maintenance, including lubrication, coolant checks, and cleaning of chips and debris to keep equipment in optimal condition., • Support changeovers between jobs by efficiently setting up machines, verifying programs, and confirming first‑piece quality., • Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve production issues and improve overall machining performance.Essential Skills, • Proficiency with CNC mills and lathes in a production or heavy‑industrial manufacturing setting., • Strong understanding of machining principles, including speeds and feeds, cutting strategies, and tool life management., • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)., • Hands‑on experience performing machine setups, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and program loading., • Ability to conduct precise in‑process inspections using calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measurement tools., • Demonstrated skill in adjusting machine parameters, tooling offsets, and workholding to maintain tight tolerances., • Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, or similar CNC controls used in modern machining centers and lathes., • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills for machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, and incorrect offsets., • Ability to perform basic G‑code edits at the machine to optimize or correct CNC programs., • Commitment to quality, safety, and productivity in a high‑volume manufacturing environment., • Capability to work with heavy‑industrial metals such as carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and high‑strength materials., • Ability to maintain accurate production and inspection documentation.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience as a machinist with both manual and CNC equipment., • Background in a heavy‑industrial or high‑volume machining environment., • Experience supporting changeovers and quick setups in a production setting., • Familiarity with continuous improvement practices related to tooling, processes, and workflow., • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem‑solving., • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality teams.Why Work Here?
