Job DescriptionPathology - Physician Position Overview The Chief of Clinical Pathology at our organization is responsible for leading the clinical laboratories across various divisions, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and managing advanced diagnostic testing technologies. This position requires a deep understanding of pathology, with duties that include operational management, quality assurance, safety oversight, and strategic planning for laboratory services. Candidates must possess substantial leadership experience in an academic medical environment, hold board certification in clinical pathology, and demonstrate strong communication abilities. The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is in search of a dynamic and skilled leader to fill the role of Chief of Clinical Pathology for our health system and Medical Director of Clinical Laboratories at our Health Sciences Campus and Jeanes Campus. Why Join Us? • Test Volume: Our clinical laboratories conduct approximately 2.5 million tests each year., • Scope: The department includes 10 divisions, each managed by an MD or PhD clinical scientist with extensive clinical, academic, and industry experience., • Divisions Include:, • Hematology/Special Coagulation, • Clinical Chemistry, • Immunogenetics/Tissue Histotyping, • Molecular Diagnostics, • Medical Microbiology, • Immunology & Virology, • Transfusion Medicine (including an active apheresis program) The Chief of Clinical Pathology and Medical Director of Clinical Laboratories will be tasked with: • Overseeing operational and implementation expertise across all clinical pathology areas, including clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology/virology/immunology, molecular pathology, tissue typing, point-of-care, and transfusion medicine., • Ensuring the appropriate test methodologies are employed and that all necessary corrective actions are documented when significant deviations from established performance specifications occur., • Providing clinical oversight to guarantee compliance with all accrediting and regulatory standards, including JCAHO, CAP, FDA, CMS, and OSHA., • Collaborating with the Chair to set goals and priorities for the clinical laboratories., • Championing integration and harmonization initiatives across all clinical laboratories within our health system., • Ensuring that quality and safety measures meet or exceed required regulatory standards., • MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent international degree., • Board Certification in Clinical Pathology., • Academic qualifications suitable for a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level., • A minimum of 5 years of experience in directing, overseeing, and developing clinical laboratories within a large academic hospital., • Preferred background in Hematopathology or Transfusion Medicine., • Proven ability to drive change in a complex academic/medical environment through team building, collaboration, data utilization, and influence., • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong presentation abilities., • Competitive compensation aligned with leading academic institutions, along with CME funding., • Generous vacation, holiday, sick leave, and CME time., • Attractive 403b retirement matching program., • 457b retirement plan., • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance., • Malpractice coverage., • Tuition remission for eligible programs.
