Job DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The role of the Revenue Accountant is to implement Council’s dues procedures and provide payroll, benefits and other accounting support as needed. Oregon AFSCME Council 75 receives dues payments monthly for 27,000+ members across over 150 employers. This position utilizes Excel, Salesforce, and a variety of other data tools to allocate those payments among funds and locals. As a key member of a five-person fiscal team, this position will also help with processing pay and benefits data and performing other bookkeeping functions as required. The Revenue Accountant reports to the Fiscal Director and works closely with the Lead Revenue Accountant. Location: This position is primarily remote but must be able to attend in-person staff meetings in Portland or Salem offices monthly. Must be able to report to the Portland office as requested. Portland Metro area applicants preferred. Categorical ResponsibilitiesUnion Dues Processing * Processing of employer dues data, including collecting and refining Excel dues data files and implementing the division of the dues into allocations for funds, locals, and the national union. * Preparing the dues distribution records to be sent to locals and the national union and to be uploaded into Council’s ledger. * Monthly reconciliation of dues payments and per capita payments with Lead and Director. * Tracking political contributions from members and allocating these among the Political Action Committees. * Working with the Accounts Payable Accountant to disburse funds from dues allocations. * Preparing data for import to Salesforce and other software as needed. Banking • Tracking incoming dues deposits and corresponding with employers as required to insure receipt of all necessary data and funds. Creating and approving ACH payments and ledger invoices to national union, locals, and other recipients. Pay and Benefits Processing * Tracking and working with other fiscal staff on semi-monthly payroll changes via ADP, including reporting and processing reports for benefits. * Reconciling and processing monthly payments to health and life insurers, FSA, 401k and other vendors as required. Other Duties/Requirements: * Compiling and sending lobby/political reporting to city and state quarterly and more frequently during election seasons. * Provide support for CPA audit annually, including ledger research and reporting. * Other monthly and annual reporting as required. * Attend meetings in Portland and Salem offices reliably and consistently. * Able to report to the Portland office as requested.’ Qualifications: * At least three years experience as a bookkeeper or accountant, ideally in a union or nonprofit setting. * Ability to manage detailed work in close coordination with lead and managerial staff. * Experience with and willingness to learn new software and to design simple accounting procedures. * Strong basic office software skills; experience with Sage 50, Salesforce and other common financial tools preferred. * Strong commitment to Council’s social justice mission required.
