Job Description Outside Sales Representative – Outdoor Living Systems Company Sun Solutions Territory: Birmingham, Alabama and surrounding areas Industry: Outdoor Living Construction (Motorized Screens, Pergolas, Sunrooms, Awnings) Sun Solutions is a growing outdoor living company specializing in motorized screen systems, pergolas, retractable awnings, patio enclosures, and glass sunrooms. We work with homeowners, builders, and contractors to create comfortable, functional outdoor living spaces. We are currently seeking a motivated Outside Sales Representative to serve the Birmingham market and surrounding areas. This individual will meet with homeowners, assess project needs, design solutions, and guide customers through the sales process from consultation to signed contract. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with homeowners, has strong communication skills, and wants to build a high-income career in the outdoor living and construction industry. Position Overview The Outside Sales Representative will meet with qualified leads, visit job sites, measure project areas, and present outdoor living solutions to customers. The role also requires coordinating project details and ordering materials once a project is sold. Construction experience is beneficial but not required. Responsibilities • Meet with homeowners and builders throughout the Birmingham area to discuss outdoor living projects, • Conduct on-site consultations and take accurate project measurements, • Present Sun Solutions products and design options, • Prepare quotes and proposals for customers, • Follow up with prospects and maintain strong customer communication, • Close sales and secure signed agreements, • Order materials required for sold projects, • Coordinate with the installation team to ensure project readiness, • Maintain strong relationships with builders, contractors, and repeat customers, • Represent Sun Solutions professionally in all customer interactions Qualifications Preferred but not required: • Experience in construction, home improvement, or building trades, • Previous sales experience (in-home sales preferred), • Ability to read basic construction drawings or plans, • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, • Self-motivated and organized, • Comfortable working independently Requirements: • Reliable personal transportation, • Ability to travel throughout the Birmingham metro area Compensation Sun Solutions offers a base salary plus performance-based commission. Base Salary: $41,600 per year Commission: 20% of Gross Profit on all completed sales Sun Solutions operates on a target gross profit margin of approximately 50%, allowing sales representatives to earn strong commissions on every project sold. Example Commission Project Price: $20,000 Estimated Cost: $10,000 Gross Profit: $10,000 Sales Commission: $2,000 90-Day Trial Period All new hires will complete a 90-day probationary period to ensure a strong fit with Sun Solutions. During the first 90 days the sales representative will: • Learn Sun Solutions products and installation methods, • Shadow installations to understand construction processes, • Train on estimating and measurement procedures, • Work with management to develop the Birmingham sales territory Compensation during the trial period includes: • Full base salary, • 20% commission on gross profit Expected Earnings Successful sales representatives typically earn: $70,000 – $200,000+ per year depending on performance. Pay Structure Commission rate is 20% of Gross profit. Base Pay will be $800/Week. (Base pay is included in the 20% gross profit commission) 2% of Gross profit will be paid as commission the week a sale is made. (For example: Sale of $15,000 is closed on Tuesday, commission of $300 will be paid on top of $800 base on Friday. Total pay $1,100) Commission bonus paid Monthly by the 15th of each month. Scenario 1 - 125,000/ month with 45% GP assuming 4 pay periods (1,500,000 in Annual Sales) Base Pay /month $ 2,400.00 2% commission on sale week of $ 2,500.00 Average Weekly pay $1,225.00 $ (4,900.00) Total Commission 20% of GP $56,250.00 $ 11,250.00 Annual Compensation at this rate is $135,000.00 Total Bonus Commission paid by 15th $ 6,350.00 Scenario 2 - 83,333/ month with 45% GP assuming 4 pay periods ($1,000,000 in Annual Sales) Base Pay /month $ 2,400.00 2% commission on sale week of $ 1,667.00 Average Weekly pay $1,217.00 $ (4,067.00) Total Commission 20% of GP $37,500.00 $ 7,500.00 Annual Compensation at this rate is $90,000.00 Total Bonus Commission paid by 15th $ 3,433.00 Scenario 3 - 208,333/ month with 45% GP assuming 4 pay periods (2,500,000 in Annual Sales) Base Pay /month $ 2,400.00 2% commission on sale week of $ 4,167.00 Average Weekly pay $1,642.00 $ (6,597.00) Total Commission 20% of GP $137,500.00 $ 18,750.00 Annual Compensation at this rate is $225.000.00 Total Bonus Commission paid by 15th $ 12,183.00 No Sales Commission will be paid on sales with Less than 30% Gross Profit
