Job DescriptionJob Title: QA Inspector Job Description The QA Inspector ensures that all products released for distribution meet applicable specifications and quality standards, and that all materials in the warehouse are correctly identified, stored, sampled, tested, and released before use in production. This role supports compliance with SOPs, batch record requirements, and GMP standards while working closely with production and warehouse teams to maintain accurate labeling, documentation, and inventory control for raw materials, components, labels, and finished goods. Responsibilities • Ensure all products released for distribution comply with applicable specifications and quality standards., • Verify that all materials in the warehouse are correctly identified as to status and stored in accordance with SOPs., • Confirm that only released materials are used in production and that all materials are sampled, tested, and meet specifications prior to use., • Assure compliance with applicable SOPs across quality, production, and warehouse activities., • Verify compliance of manufacturing operations with batch record instructions and requirements., • Receive and sample all raw materials and components for appropriate quality testing, including AQL-based sampling where applicable., • Place finished product under appropriate quarantine and manage release of finished product for shipping once quality requirements are met., • Ensure all articles in the plant—raw materials, components, packaging, labels, finished product, reject materials, and rework materials—are properly labeled and stored according to SOPs., • Administer the label control program, including issuance, reconciliation, and storage of labels., • Inspect production lines for compliance with SOPs and product specifications., • Perform appropriate sampling, storage, and status labeling of pallets of incoming materials until testing is complete and materials are released for use., • Perform appropriate sampling and storage of finished product until testing is complete and product is released., • Review batch records to ensure that only released ingredients, components, and labeling are used in production., • Assist the Quality Manager in product investigations when deviations occur in manufacturing or when complaints or product failures arise., • Maintain label inventory, issue labels to production, receive unused labels back into inventory, and facilitate accurate reconciliation of label counts., • Inspect production lines to verify proper use of PPE, correct labels and codes, accurate weights, and adherence to product specifications., • Conduct sampling duties typically one day per week, spending approximately 80% of that day on sampling activities and 20% on office tasks., • On other days, perform primarily office-based release work (about 70% of the day) and conduct inspections and audits in production and warehouse environments (about 30% of the day)., • Collaborate with other QA Inspectors, the supervisor, and production and warehouse personnel to coordinate sampling, inspections, and quality activities., • Prepare to operate a forklift after conversion to full-time employment in order to pull samples for sampling activities, in accordance with site procedures and training.Essential Skills, • High school diploma required., • At least 1 year of quality inspection experience in a GMP environment required; 3+ years preferred., • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance and quality inspection within a regulated or GMP setting., • Experience with raw material sampling, including AQL-based sampling methods., • Prior experience performing production line checks or line clearances in a manufacturing environment., • Ability to work with batch records and verify compliance with documented instructions., • Basic computer skills with the ability to work within a QMS or database system, such as SAP or an equivalent ERP., • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, labeling, and record review., • Ability to work effectively in both office and production/warehouse environments., • Flexibility to support occasional coverage for other shifts as needed.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or similar regulated manufacturing environment is strongly preferred., • Familiarity with AQL sampling standards and practices., • Comfort working with powdered products or animal feed–based products., • Willingness to operate a forklift upon conversion to full-time employment to pull samples, following appropriate training and certification., • Strong communication skills to interface effectively with production, warehouse, and quality team members., • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including performing sampling procedures in tandem with another inspector., • Organizational skills to manage label inventories, reconciliations, and documentation efficiently.Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site role with a primary schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with moderate overtime of approximately 4–6 hours per week and the possibility of working about one Saturday per month. You may occasionally be asked to cover for a night shift inspector, so some schedule flexibility is required. The QA Inspector spends about 20% of the time in an office environment performing documentation and release activities and the remaining time in production and warehouse areas conducting sampling and inspections. The production and warehouse environments can be dusty due to powdered products and animal feed–based materials. You will work as part of a small quality team consisting of three inspectors and a supervisor, collaborating closely with production and warehouse personnel and often performing sampling procedures alongside another inspector. The role involves regular use of computer systems such as QMS or ERP software for documentation and release activities, and, upon conversion to full-time employment and completion of appropriate training, operation of a forklift to pull samples. The position offers a contract structure that includes six paid holidays and 40 hours of billable PTO, with a plan and approved headcount for conversion to a permanent role, providing stability and a clear path to long-term employment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
