Job Description Job Title: Demolition Laborer Job Description The Demolition Technician performs general interior and exterior site cleanup and supports demolition crews on a variety of construction and environmental remediation projects. This role involves moving and disposing of materials, maintaining a clean and safe job site, and working long days in outdoor conditions. The position requires strong physical stamina, reliability, and the ability to work early mornings, extended hours, and occasional out-of-town projects. Responsibilities • Perform general interior and exterior site cleanup after demolition work has been completed., • Load broken concrete and other debris into wheelbarrows and safely transport materials to dumpsters or designated disposal areas., • Haul, dispose of, and organize materials to keep work areas clear, safe, and efficient., • Sweep, vacuum, and remove dust and debris from job sites to maintain a clean working environment., • Assist demolition crews with interior and structural demolition tasks as directed., • Work upright and on your feet in various weather conditions for 8–12 hours per day., • Follow all safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly., • Report to the shop each morning at the designated time to join your assigned crew., • Travel in a crew vehicle from the shop to job sites and back at the end of each workday., • Work as part of a crew of approximately 5–8 people under the direction of a foreman., • Adapt to changing job sites, moving between different projects based on workload and business needs., • Participate in out-of-town projects when required, including occasional overnight stays., • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality; arrive at the shop ready to work by the required start time., • Lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and equipment safely, using proper lifting techniques., • At least 6 months of experience in construction, physical labor, or demolition., • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds when needed., • Ability to remain upright and on your feet for 8–12 hours per day in various elements., • Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to arrive at the shop by approximately 6:45 a.m. each workday., • Willingness and availability to work Monday through Friday and Saturdays as needed., • Flexibility to work extended hours, including potential shifts from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays., • Comfort working in construction and demolition environments, including dust, debris, and outdoor conditions., • Ability to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and site procedures accurately., • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cooperatively in a small crew., • Previous experience in demolition, construction, landscaping, or similar labor-intensive roles., • Familiarity with using wheelbarrows and basic hand tools in a construction or demolition setting., • Experience working on multiple job sites or projects simultaneously., • Willingness to travel for out-of-town projects, including staying overnight during the week when required., • Ability to adapt quickly to changing work locations and project priorities., • Strong work ethic and a track record of consistent attendance. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
