Job Details • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,110 - $1,190, • Assignment Duration: 17 weeks (No extensions due to union rules), • Start Date: May 4, 2026, • End Date: August 31, 2026, • Shift: Night shift, 5x8-hour shifts (23:00 - 07:30), • Hours per Week: 40, • Location: Hyde Park, Chicago, IL 60637 — Chicago healthcare job, • Orientation: First week, 07:00 - 15:30, • Rotating Weekends: Every other weekend, • Holidays: As assigned Job Requirements / Qualifications • Minimum 2 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing, Surgical Technologist, or Sterile Processing Technician roles (SPD), • National sterile processing certification required (examples: IAHCSMM CRCST or CBSPD certification), • Eligible to work in Illinois and hold appropriate state or national licensure/certification, • Ability to meet productivity goal of ~800 instruments processed per shift (mix of small and large trays), • Must not have worked at any University of Chicago location in the past 7 months (traveler restriction), • Willingness to work rotating weekends and assigned holidays, • Legal first and last name required for submission, • Completion of orientation and annual training modules (average 5 hours, non-billable) Key Responsibilities • Process, decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays following hospital SPD policies and infection control standards, • Achieve productivity targets by efficiently processing a mix of small and large surgical trays to reach ~800 instruments per shift, • Operate sterilizers (autoclaves), ultrasonic cleaners, and other SPD equipment safely and accurately, • Maintain accurate sterilization logs, tray counts, and instrument tracking documentation, • Collaborate with OR, nursing, and perioperative teams to ensure timely delivery of sterile supplies for cases, • Adhere to AAMI and facility standards for sterilization, handling, and storage of sterile items, • Participate in orientation, competency assessments, and annual training modules, • Work assigned night shifts, rotating weekends, and holidays as scheduled Why Apply This travel surgical tech job is ideal for certified sterile processing technicians and surgical technologists seeking Chicago travel assignments, experience in a high-volume SPD, and the opportunity to work in Hyde Park.
