This Texas nursing job offers a supportive environment, competitive pay, and the opportunity to experience the welcoming community and sunny climate of West Texas. • Location: Midland, TX 79701 (West Texas healthcare jobs), • Facility: Level II Trauma Center – Peri-Anesthesia Services (PACU & Pre-Op Holding), • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 5, 2026 – End: April 6, 2026), • Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts per week (12:00 – 20:30), • Hours per Week: 40, • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,980 - $2,120 per week, • Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, • Unit Size: 21 beds, average daily census of 30, • Call: Required, • Weekend Coverage: Minimum of 2 weekend shifts per contract, • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state; pending license accepted, must be active before start), • Minimum 1 year of PACU or critical care nursing experience required; 2 years preferred, • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Experience with pediatric patients and critical care strongly preferred, • Level II trauma nursing experience preferred, • Experience recovering Plastics, Urology, Dental, and GYN surgeries, • Proficiency in monitoring and managing patients with nerve blocks, chest tubes, central lines, intubation, and arterial lines, • Experience with Cerner electronic charting system preferred, • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed), • Deliver safe and effective post-anesthesia care for patients of all ages in the PACU, • Monitor and manage patients with complex needs, including nerve blocks, chest tubes, central lines, intubation, and arterial lines, • Assist with Pre-Op Holding coverage as needed, • Float between Pre-Op and PACU units (no floating to other departments), • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response, • Administer blood products, IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents, • Perform pain assessment and management, including PCA pump and RASS scale, • Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and malignant hyperthermia protocol Planet Healthcare Job ID #436635.
