Job DescriptionJob Title: Mobile Building Engineer / Facilities Maintenance Compressor Technician Job Description The Mobile Building Engineer / Facilities Maintenance Compressor Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of compressed air systems, HVAC, and building infrastructure across multiple facilities. This role supports plant and facility operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and assisting with equipment installations and upgrades. As a key contributor to operational excellence, this position promotes a safe work environment, maintains essential building systems, and ensures the integrity and functionality of facilities that support core business operations. Responsibilities • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on air compressors, vacuum pumps, and associated mechanical systems to ensure safe and reliable operation., • Troubleshoot and repair advanced air compressor and vacuum pump issues, diagnosing mechanical and control-related problems efficiently., • Conduct HVAC diagnostics and repair on rooftop units (RTUs) and other climate control equipment to maintain proper building temperature and air quality., • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including motors, pumps, and fans to minimize downtime and maintain production support., • Perform basic electrical repairs and apply a solid understanding of electrical systems, including working safely around 480 volts where required., • Maintain and repair plumbing systems, including drains, piping, and fixtures, to support facility operations., • Provide building systems maintenance, including work on doors, finishes, drains, roofs, lighting, and ballast replacements., • Support fire and life safety systems, including alarms, pumps, and suppression equipment, to help ensure regulatory compliance and occupant safety., • Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive, complete, and document work orders, maintenance activities, and parts usage., • Coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors performing work on-site, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to facility standards., • Respond to maintenance requests and equipment issues with a strong safety mindset, sense of urgency, and effective problem-solving skills., • Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrades of facility and plant equipment, including compressed air systems and building systems., • Inspect facility systems regularly to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions before failures occur., • Work independently as a mobile technician across multiple locations, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively., • Communicate clearly with operations, plant personnel, and leadership regarding equipment status, repair needs, and maintenance plans., • Support overall facility upkeep through general repair work such as carpentry, painting, and minor building improvements as needed.Essential Skills, • Minimum 5 years of experience in a commercial or industrial cement or bulk plant environment., • 2–3 years of experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenance., • Technical vocational training or on-the-job experience with air compressor systems and vacuum pumps., • Technical vocational training or experience in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing disciplines., • Strong proficiency in advanced air compressor and vacuum pump troubleshooting., • Experience with HVAC diagnostics and repair, including rooftop units (RTUs)., • Mechanical system troubleshooting skills, including motors, pumps, and fans., • Basic electrical repair skills and solid understanding of electrical systems, including working safely around higher voltages such as 480 volts., • Plumbing system maintenance and repair capabilities., • Building systems maintenance experience, including doors, finishes, drains, roofs, and general facility components., • Familiarity with fire and life safety systems, including alarms, pumps, and suppression systems., • Proficiency using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for work orders and documentation., • Ability to coordinate and interface with contractors and vendors on maintenance and repair projects., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word., • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record to support travel between sites., • High school diploma or GED., • Demonstrated safety mindset, urgency, and strong problem-solving skills in an industrial environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Associate degree or completion of a technical school program in a related field is preferred., • Current EPA certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe., • Experience in facilities maintenance, including carpentry, painting, and general repair work., • Hands-on experience with facility lighting systems and ballast replacements., • Ability to work independently as the primary or sole maintenance resource on-site when needed., • Comfort working in cement or bulk plant environments, including exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment., • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple work orders, priorities, and travel between locations., • Effective communication skills for interacting with operations teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in both office and industrial or warehouse environments, working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. You will support multiple facilities within a regional area, including travel to locations such as New Mexico, Pecos, Midland, Odessa, and surrounding areas. The schedule requires the ability to start the workday as early as 6:00 a.m. and no later than 8:00 a.m., with the potential for extended hours, overtime, shift work, and on-call assignments during emergencies or high-priority situations. At times you may be the only maintenance staff member on duty, requiring comfort working independently in active industrial settings that may include noise, dust, and heavy equipment. Work involves frequent use of tools, ladders, and industrial equipment, as well as regular use of CMMS and standard office software for documentation and communication. Attire should be appropriate for industrial and field work, including safety gear suitable for plant and outdoor conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Midland, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00/hr.
