This is an exciting time to join us as we transition to the newly created Curriculum, Design, and Content, within the Tax, Customs and Compliance Academy, bringing together a variety of learning functions. The Academy and its services will evolve over the next 12-18 months, making this an ideal role for people who are able to innovate, thrive in ambiguity and see opportunities in change. As a Learning Designer (LD), you will be critical to the successful development of both new and existing learning solutions to develop capability across HMRC. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a range of quality, engaging, and innovative long term learning solutions that meet the customer requirements and modern learning principles. You will work in close partnership with Portfolio Managers (PMs), Design Development Managers (DDMs), Design Development Consultants (DDCs), other Learning Designers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, timelines and expected outcomes in line with HMRC and Tax, Customs and Compliance Academy (TCCA) strategic priorities. This role requires creative and motivated people, who will take a fresh and innovative approach to the design of learning using new methods and technologies to ensure learning is informative, engaging and interactive. Job description Provide a design service by applying your understanding of modern design principles, resulting in the design of engaging learning solutions that meet detailed and sometimes complex learning requests. To do this you will: • Conduct in-depth research and work with Subject Matter Experts to produce storyboards, scripts, self-study materials, assessments and handouts for blended solutions that support effective learning., • Create detailed design documents, including measurable and business-focused learning objectives, appropriate content and evaluation interventions to create effective learning, routeways and/or framework materials and products., • Champion use of our approved tools, styles and standards, participating in the quality review process of all learning products to ensure quality outcomes., • Establish and develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders communicating clearly and regularly with them using a variety of methods. Manage and meet deadlines, taking personal responsibility for fulfilling learning solution requirements, meeting quality standards., • Use your knowledge and expertise of modern adult learning theories and learning design principles, contribute to Learning Needs Analyses (LNA) and/or Performance Needs Analyses (PNA) to produce appropriate learning media, approach and solutions., • Work closely with PMs, DDMs, DDCs and other LDs across CDC and beyond, driving forward change. Support planning, risk management (including scoping and managing mitigation) and reporting requirements for learning design and development., • Work collaboratively with other LDs, providing effective and informative feedback on learning products, sharing recommendations to increase team capability., • Be proficient in IT and design systems, tools and software, including the Microsoft Office 365 suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint), with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and digital tools., • Be digitally confident with a clear understanding of how digital technology shapes our future, with the ability to embed the key concepts of modern learning., • Proactively manage own performance and progress personal development in partnership with your manager including developing your own capability - sharing knowledge, skills, and best practice to support the development of others., • Identify, encourage, and recognise success and achievements., • Actively manage own attendance and compliance with HR and HMRC's policies, e.g. standards of behaviour, Health and Safety, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Data Security Policies., • Work towards Professional Standards and our internal Quality Assurance Framework(s) within the agreed timescales., • Be visible and accessible, actively lead change and be an advocate for communicating direction across HMRC., • Support HMRC's ambition for making it a Great Place to Work., • Proven knowledge of professional learning design with the ability to demonstrate practical application of learning design tools, principles and modern learning methods into solutions., • Ability to translate & contextualise often complex operational business needs/gaps to ensure our solutions reflect business requirements., • Experience of developing relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders through a variety of communication channels., • Ability to effectively prioritise and change focus to respond to emerging priorities while demonstrating effective decision making daily., • Digitally confident with a clear understanding of how digital technology shapes our future, with the ability to embed the key concepts of modern learning., • Benton Park View, Newcastle - moving to Pilgrims Quarter, Newcastle, • Managing a Quality Service, • Pension - We make contributions to our colleagues' Alpha pension equal to at least 28.97% of their salary., • Family friendly policies., • Personal support., • A name-blind CV including your job history and previous experiences.
