Job Title: Design Manager (Commercial fit-out – CAT A / CAT B) Location: Central London Salary: Up to £75,000 + Package Overview: We are working with a leading main contractor specialising in high-quality CAT A / CAT B fit-out projects across London. Due to sustained growth, they are seeking two Design Managers to join their team. These positions will involve managing design delivery across multiple projects simultaneously, while also supporting pitching and work-winning activity. My client is open to speaking with people at different levels of experience due to the continued growth of the design department. Role Summary: The Design Manager will take responsibility for the design process across several projects, from pre-construction through to delivery. This includes coordination between internal teams, consultants, subcontractors and clients to ensure information is delivered accurately, on time and within budget. The role will also require client-facing interaction, representing the business in presentations, pitches and stakeholder meetings. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage the design process on CAT A and CAT B fit-out projects valued between £3m and £30m., • Coordinate the flow of design information between consultants, subcontractors and project teams, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements., • Support pitching and work-winning activity, including contributing to presentations and tender submissions., • Represent the contractor in client meetings, design workshops and presentations., • Ensure that all design outputs meet quality standards, building regulations and client specifications., • Manage competing priorities across multiple projects simultaneously., • Resolve design-related issues quickly and effectively to keep projects on track., • Drive best practice and innovation in design coordination and digital processes. Candidate Requirements: • Proven experience as a Design Manager within the fit-out or interiors sector., • Solid understanding of CAT A and CAT B fit-out projects, ideally within the London commercial market., • Ability to represent a contractor in client-facing environments, including pitches, presentations and stakeholder workshops., • Strong technical knowledge of construction methodologies, building regulations and design standards., • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple live projects., • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. Desirable: • Degree or equivalent qualification in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field., • Membership of a relevant professional body (CIOB, RICS, etc.)., • Previous experience with CAT A / CAT B projects ranging from £3m to £30m in value.
