Role Description This role supports the day-to-day finance operations of the business, working closely with the Finance Manager across sales ledger, purchase ledger and financial administration. We are looking for a reliable and organised Accounts Assistant to support our structured and well established day-to-day finance and bookkeeping activities of the business. This position is suited to candidates with previous experience working in an accounts, finance or bookkeeping environment. The role will involve working across sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control, reconciliations and financial administration, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained. The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager with routine accounting processes including invoicing, supplier payments, bank reconciliations, VAT reporting and financial data preparation. You will join a small and friendly team, working closely with the Finance Manager and with direct access to senior management, providing good visibility of how finance supports the wider business and ensure financial processes are completed accurately and on time. The role would suit someone who takes pride in accuracy, organisation and maintaining well-structured financial records. We are particularly interested in candidates who are proactive, dependable and comfortable taking ownership of routine finance processes. We are looking for someone who values accuracy, consistency and long-term ownership of core finance processes. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills and attention to detail who enjoys working in a structured finance environment. This is an on-site role based at our Billericay facility and requires regular attendance during standard business hours. Main Purpose of Job: The main purpose of the job is to meet the requirements of bookkeeping function for Unbar Rothon Ltd and 2 small accounts to achieve accurate, on time and useful management information. Relationships: This role reports to the Finance Manager. Pre-Requisites of the Job: • Regular and reliable attendance of the workplace for contractual hours and overtime as required., • Cooperative approach & respect for confidentiality, • Keeping organised files and records, • When required help to coach colleagues in their role, company rules and procedures., • Minimise time and material wastage., • Attain and maintain knowledge of standards set by relevant training modules., • Carry out such further tasks as may from time to time be delegated to you by the Finance Manager or Directors. Main Responsibilities of the Job: • Sales ledger - Invoicing, Statements & Credit Control, Dispute Resolution, Price Review imports, order pricing, cost review, • Purchase ledger - Invoicing, Dispute resolution, Reports, Supplier payments, • International payments - Prepare and process., • Petty Cash - Process receipts and payments., • Reconciliation includes bank/cash accounts., • Maintenance of Raw Material Cost Price Database, • Statutory Reporting - Ethanol Return & Receipt acknowledgement, VAT Return., • AdHoc payment, • Reporting financial data to management o Cash flow reporting on regular basis o Investigate / Report discrepancies o Year End Processes and National statistics in partnership with Finance Manager The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your role due to changes and the overall business objectives of the group. Skills and Experience • A respect for confidentiality, • IT skills, including familiarity with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, • Technical Accounts knowledge or bookkeeping experience, • Experience working with sales ledger, purchase ledger or credit control processes preferred, • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, • Communications skills, • Team-playing skills, • Good management skills (as part of a team), • Clear and logical thinking, • Organisational skills and an ability to work to deadlines
