Senior Project Manager / Project Manager Medium Sized Main Contractor Salary: £90,(Apply online only) - £100,(Apply online only) + Package Fixed term Contract – 2 years Location: Hertfordshire Start: August 2026 The Opportunity A well-established and highly regarded main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / Project Manager to lead the delivery of a prestigious £10m+ hotel refurbishment and steel frame extension project in Hertfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a complex scheme involving the refurbishment of an operational hotel alongside the construction of a new steel frame extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring the works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the client, consultants, and subcontractors, you will play a key role in coordinating refurbishment works within a live environment while overseeing the successful delivery of the extension and associated external works. Key Responsibilities Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of a £10m + hotel refurbishment including a steel frame extension Manage the project programme, ensuring key milestones and completion dates are achieved Lead and coordinate site management teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners Develop and implement strategies to minimise disruption to hotel operations throughout the refurbishment works Monitor project budgets, costs, and commercial performance in conjunction with the commercial team Manage client relationships and act as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle Ensure works are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, specifications, and quality standards Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective solutions to maintain programme and budget objectives Oversee health and safety compliance across all project activities and promote a positive safety culture on site Chair project meetings and provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders Manage project handover, commissioning, and completion processes Experience Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager within a main contractor environment Demonstrable experience delivering hotel refurbishment, hospitality, commercial refurbishment, or mixed-use projects Experience managing projects within live operational environments is essential Strong understanding of steel frame construction and extension projects Excellent leadership and team management skills Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction contracts and procurement processes Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills Proven ability to manage complex construction programmes and multiple workstreams simultaneously Qualifications SMSTS CSCS Card First Aid at Work Relevant construction-related qualification or equivalent industry experience Desirable: Degree, HNC, or HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Studies, or a related discipline Membership of CIOB, RICS, or another relevant professional body Temporary Works Coordinator qualification Experience delivering hospitality sector projects What's on Offer Salary of £90,(Apply online only) - £100,(Apply online only) per annum plus competitive package Opportunity to lead a flagship hotel refurbishment and extension project in Hertfordshire Join a respected contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work Supportive and collaborative working environment Long-term career progression opportunities within a growing business Exposure to high-profile hospitality and refurbishment projects Interested?
