Up to £27,000 per annum \n Based in Exeter \n Clinical Negligence Legal Assistant - roles also available in Litigation, Real estate & Private Client \n \n We're working with a leading law firm who are looking to recruit a Legal Assistant to join their specialist Clinical Negligence team in Exeter. The team acts for clients across the UK on a wide range of medical negligence claims, including complex and high-value birth injury cases. \n \n This is a varied role providing legal and administrative support to experienced Clinical Negligence lawyers. Previous legal experience is not essential, making this an opportunity for someone with strong administrative experience who is looking to develop their legal skills within a specialist team. \n \n Responsibilities include: \n\n • Opening, closing and archiving client files.\n, • Assisting with client onboarding and initial new client enquiries.\n, • Dealing with client enquiries by telephone and email.\n, • Proofreading and preparing legal documents.\n, • Supporting lawyers with general administrative responsibilities.\n, • Managing diaries and arranging conferences with experts and counsel.\n, • Retrieving and storing documents, including deeds and other important records.\n, • Arranging bank transfers at the request of the fee-earning team.\n, • Preparing account receipts, payments and bills.\n, • Maintaining accurate records.\n, • Assisting with document production and file management.\n, • Providing general support to the Clinical Negligence team.\n\n \n What we need from you: \n\n • Previous administrative experience is desirable, although legal experience is not essential.\n, • Interest in developing a career within the legal sector.\n, • Good organisational and time management skills.\n, • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.\n, • Clear and professional communication skills.\n, • Good attention to detail.\n, • Ability to use initiative and solve problems.\n, • Calm and sympathetic approach when dealing with clients and their families.\n, • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.\n, • Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.\n, • Willingness to learn and develop legal skills.\n\n \n The perks: \n\n • Full-time, permanent position.\n, • 36.25 hours per week.\n, • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.\n, • Training and ongoing professional development opportunities.\n, • Opportunity to learn from an experienced team of specialist Clinical Negligence lawyers.\n, • Supportive working environment with a focus on colleague wellbeing.\n, • Opportunity to develop your legal skills within a specialist Clinical Negligence team.\n\n
