ROLE OVERVIEW // Would you like to join one of the world’s most prestigious law firms? We are offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced solicitor to join our Corporate Knowledge team. The Corporate and M&A practice is at the heart of our firm, and our reputation for providing our clients with high-quality, trusted support is unrivalled. The Corporate practice advises on a broad spectrum of matters, leading on some of the most significant public and private transactions in the market. We also provide comprehensive corporate and governance advice, addressing the critical issues that modern corporates face. Based in the London office, this role would suit an experienced Corporate and M&A lawyer, ideally with prior expertise of working in PSL/Knowledge Lawyer role. Strong experience, or a keen interest, in listed company advisory work, regulatory compliance, market disclosure and corporate governance matters would be a significant advantage. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Knowledge, you will join a small, collaborative team of Corporate Knowledge Lawyers, supported by knowledge specialists and the firm’s central Knowledge and Learning group. The role will involve working closely with Corporate and M&A partners and fee earners at all levels of seniority, as well as our central business services teams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES // Our Knowledge Lawyers respond to the needs of the practice from time to time, applying a practical, commercial and client-centric approach to producing timely and insightful content, know-how and training. Roles in our Knowledge team suit lawyers who are flexible, collaborative, self-sufficient and proactive, with the confidence and ability to operate independently and prioritise multiple demands on their time (albeit with appropriate support). Key attributes include curiosity and the ambition to become an expert practitioner, with the ability to build and influence both internal and external networks. Key responsibilities are set out below but there may be others which are not listed. You may be required to work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm. External knowledge, client publications, client training, consultations, pitches and committees • Identify issues which may affect our clients, producing market leading thought leadership content, including client briefings, training or blogs, on topical issues of relevance., • Designing and delivering, and supporting fee earners in the preparation and delivery of, impactful client training., • Working closely with partners and fee earners to support the firm’s corporate governance work, particularly around the management of AGMs and annual reporting., • Participating in and building relationships with key industry and trade association working groups (e.g. GC100, Chartered Governance Institute and FRC)., • Replying, or contributing to replies, to industry or legal consultations., • Attending, or supporting others’ attendance at, external committees and conferences (e.g. City of London Law Society Company Law Committee)., • Contributing technical content to firm-wide pitches, directory submissions and relevant sections of our website. Internal knowledge, know-how and training • Keeping up to date with legal and commercial developments that affect the practice, producing insightful articles, analysis and updates., • Supporting the firm’s expertise in corporate governance matters, including UK Corporate Governance Code and governance best practice for listed and large private companies., • Responding to queries from fee earners, offering guidance, support and counsel as required., • Working with our internal knowledge systems and central Knowledge function, engaging in knowledge projects, supporting the organisation, capture, review and creation of know-how, including precedents., • Creating, maintaining, and commenting on standard documents and practice notes, tracking transaction activity and reviewing documentation to identify market trends and practice., • Working with the Learning and Development team to design and deliver an engaging, technical legal training programme., • Working with the firm’s central Knowledge, Innovation and Technology teams to embed legal technology (including AI‑enabled tools) and workflows within the Corporate practice and to identify opportunities to leverage such legal tech to enhance the efficiency of knowledge delivery., • Taking responsibility for the maintenance, organisation and updating of the relevant practice pages on the Intranet. CANDIDATE PROFILE // Candidates for this position will be someone who: • Senior lawyer with a strong background in Corporate and M&A law with demonstrable technical expertise, knowledge and experience of market practice across a variety of transactions, including company advisory and corporate governance., • The ideal candidate will have experience advising listed public companies on legal and regulatory compliance, market disclosure and corporate governance matters., • Demonstrates the ability to be the go-to person for fee-earners with queries about law and market practice, scanning the horizon for legal, regulatory and market developments., • Can identify opportunities to, and produces, timely and insightful knowledge, client content and training material., • Has a familiarity with, and enthusiasm for, the use of AI, automation and legal technology in a legal and knowledge‑management context., • Brings a forward‑looking mindset and drives engagement in areas such as legal tech, innovation and compliance., • Is comfortable speaking with authority on technical topics to a wide range of audiences., • Demonstrates effective project management, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills., • Builds strong relationships with fee-earners at all levels, other Knowledge Lawyers and Business Services teams.
