Job Description: Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Sustainability Manager to join the Central Sustainability Team within the Global Design & Construction (GDC) team. This position is within the Global Design and Construction. You will lead and support a range of sustainability initiatives across global design and construction projects. Key focus areas include embodied carbon, green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM, Green Mark, NABERS), construction and demolition waste, and sustainability governance throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial design through to construction. This role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, effective data management, and the integration of sustainability best practices into all aspects of our design and construction processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and implement a global sustainability strategy across diverse markets in AMER, EMEA, and APAC, gaining portfolio-level experience and driving meaningful impact. Key Responsibilities: • Responsible for supporting the implementation, enhancement and day-to-day management of the Global Design and Construction (GDC) sustainability charter across key areas such as embodied carbon, green building certifications (such as LEED, BREEAM, Green Mark, NABERS), construction and demolition waste, and the governance of sustainability throughout the project lifecycle, from design inception to construction (including for instance business case reviews and development and maintenance of dedicated sustainability standards, etc.), and alignment with sustainability regulations., • Establish and manage relationships with internal stakeholders including supporting the Sustainability Program Office, Utilities & Energy team, Global Operations, Accounting, Sales & customers, Investor & Analyst Relations and Marketing and Global Procurement team., • Maintain and execute against the company’s global strategic sustainability goals., • Act as a subject matter expert for GDC sustainability initiative queries encompassing but not limited to embodied carbon, green certifications, construction and demolition waste, the governance of sustainability throughout the project lifecycle, from design inception to construction, both internally and externally., • Manage the sourcing and purchasing process for our consultant base, including; receipt and evaluation of proposals; contract negotiation, award and administration of purchase orders, and preparation and management of consultant scope., • Work with internal teams and external sustainability consultant(s) to ensure full participation in key program elements to ensure resulting data and information is sufficiently detailed, complete, accurate to support internal strategy development and communication updates, as well as facilitate external reporting to agencies such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), annual Sustainability Report, Green Finance Framework, etc., • Ability to travel frequently travel internationally and domestically. Program and Portfolio Management • Execute and oversee multiple simultaneous projects and initiatives undertaken to meet the sustainability goals of the company and GDC Sustainability Charter., • Create, control and enhance reporting activities, assisting in the creation and retention of accurate GDC sustainability data, tracking issues and risks (e.g. portfolio green building certifications, embodied carbon reduction efforts, portfolio construction and demolition waste data, etc.)., • Aligns GDC construction projects with the charter and sustainability project goals., • Facilitates program and project meetings., • Identifies and resolves program level issues with cross functional teams., • Track project benefits including carbon savings and financials (cost and benefits, evaluating TCO). Stakeholder Management and Communication • Builds relationships with company key stakeholders and business liaisons including internal teams such as the Sustainability Program Office, Utilities & Energy team, Global Operations, Accounting, Sales, Investor & Analyst Relations, and Marketing., • Establish and manage relationships with the other GDC Sustainability Workstream leads (e.g. heat export lead, water&nature lead) and other GDC teams (e.g., design, construction, commercial, eng. Dev, design standard, etc.) to ensure sustainability processes and programs are effectively integrated and executed., • Builds and manage relationships with external key stakeholders such as general contractors, and key suppliers., • Regularly present to E-staff and other internal/external groups as necessary., • Communicates minor project/program scope, schedule, resource, and budget changes Project Methodologies and Tools • Communicates GDC Sustainability Charter framework and progress to all stakeholders, • Develop and maintain communication plans and execution templates leveraging PM Tools such as MS Office Suite, MS Forms, Smartsheet, BI and SharePoint, Anaplan, Procore, Bim 360, Wordpress. Qualifications • 5 years of experience preferred working in design and construction with a background in working directly with general contractors, either as part of a General Contractor team or in close collaboration, as well as experience in sustainability practices., • Engineering Bachelor’s degree (or degree with significant analytical / technical content). Master's degree preferred., • Proven experience in Project and program management., • Able to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across multiple disciplines and organisations, • Attention to detail, • Written and spoken fluency in English, • MS Office confident, • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, successfully interfacing with all internal and external stakeholders., • Ability to translate complex sustainability topics to a broad range of audiences within a matrixed organization, • Provide excellent analytical skills identifying all options available and defining best possible solutions., • Experience with stakeholder management, • Able to design dashboards, roadmaps & presentations, • Willingness to travel internationally (occasionally) to support project teams on-site and/or work with the broader GDC and sustainability teams., • Experience of having worked independently across a diverse set of stakeholders in multiple time zones., • Awareness of existing or pending sustainability legislation relevant to data centers, real estate and technology companies (e.g. specifics around the EU Climate Neutral Data Centre Operator Pact, EU Green Deal, Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, Singapore Green Plan), • Awareness of voluntary sustainability programs specific to energy, environment and emissions (e.g. CDP, GRI, The Greenhouse Gas Protocol, SASB, SBTs, TCFD etc.)
