Transport Compliance Manager \n \n The Opportunity: \n We are seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Compliance Manager to oversee regulatory compliance, operational performance and team leadership within a busy commercial transport environment. \n \n This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring the transport function operates legally, safely and efficiently, while developing a strong culture of compliance and accountability across the business. \n \n Key Responsibilities: \n Regulatory Compliance and Operator Standards across site. \n \n Operator Licence Oversight: \n\n • Act as the designated CPC holder.\n, • Ensure full compliance with Traffic Commissioner and DVSA requirements.\n, • Protect the integrity of the Operator’s Licence at all times.\n\n \n Accreditation and Audit Management: \n\n • Maintain and enhance industry accreditation standards, including FORS or equivalent.\n, • Lead internal and external audits to retain recognised compliance standards.\n, • Support the business in working towards best-practice frameworks such as Earned Recognition.\n\n \n Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Compliance: \n\n • Oversee tachograph analysis and infringement management.\n, • Ensure strict adherence to UK and EU drivers’ hours legislation.\n, • Maintain compliance with the Road Transport Working Time Directive.\n\n \n Safe Systems and Risk Management: \n\n • Develop, implement and regularly review risk assessments.\n, • Create and maintain Safe Systems of Work across transport, yard and loading operations.\n, • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate corrective measures.\n\n \n Health and Safety Leadership: \n\n • Champion a strong safety culture throughout the transport operation.\n, • Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and internal standards.\n, • Promote safe working practices among employees and drivers.\n\n \n Team Leadership and Culture \n \n Culture and Engagement: \n\n • Promote an open, accountable and safety-focused working environment.\n, • Strengthen communication and collaboration between operational teams and drivers.\n\n \n Performance Management: \n\n • Conduct regular employee performance reviews.\n, • Manage attendance, capability and performance concerns.\n, • Handle disciplinary and grievance matters in accordance with company procedures.\n\n \n Training and Development: \n\n • Identify individual and team development requirements.\n, • Coordinate periodic CPC training.\n, • Deliver targeted toolbox talks based on compliance trends and infringement data.\n\n \n Driver Wellbeing and Fatigue Management: \n\n • Develop work schedules that prioritise driver wellbeing.\n, • Identify and manage fatigue-related risks.\n, • Ensure operational requirements remain safe and sustainable.\n\n \n Performance Monitoring and Reporting \n \n Operational KPIs: \n\n • Monitor and report on key transport performance indicators.\n, • Track fuel performance, on-time delivery, vehicle utilisation and downtime.\n, • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and efficiency.\n\n \n Senior Leadership Reporting: \n\n • Prepare and present compliance, operational and financial reports.\n, • Provide senior management with clear updates on performance, risk and improvement activity.\n\n \n Infringement Control: \n\n • Monitor driver performance and compliance data.\n, • Identify recurring infringements or performance concerns.\n, • Implement corrective training and action plans where required.\n\n \n Policy and Governance \n \n Transport Policies and Procedures: \n\n • Develop, review and enforce transport policies and procedures.\n, • Ensure robust processes are in place for defect reporting, accidents, drug and alcohol compliance and operational best practice.\n\n \n Audit and Record Management: \n\n • Maintain accurate and audit-ready records.\n, • Oversee documentation relating to vehicle maintenance, drivers’ hours, training and transport compliance.\n\n \n Skills and Experience Required: \n\n • Valid Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence – essential\n, • Minimum five years’ experience within a transport management position\n, • Strong knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachograph legislation and Working Time Regulations\n, • Comprehensive understanding of UK road transport legislation\n, • Experience within general haulage and/or palletised distribution networks\n, • Strong commercial awareness\n, • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation\n, • IOSH qualification – desirable\n, • Strong leadership, communication and performance-management skills\n
