Your role will also include collecting and processing student engagement and attendance data, and supporting key university events such as enrolment, graduation, open days, and clearing. Student Success Officer Walsall Full time – 37 hours 2 Months initial contract £120 per day The Student Success Officer (SSO) is responsible for supporting students' development, engagement, and progression by providing targeted one-to-one guidance, proactive attendance monitoring, and facilitating developmental workshops. The role is key to ensuring students build the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to succeed both at college and in their future aspirations. The Student Success Officer (SSO) will play a vital role in supporting and guiding a student’s progress throughout their college journey to ensure they are focused upon fulfilling their full potential both in the short term whilst at college but also in their future. The SSO will work with a caseload of learners to manage their attendance and work ‘one to one’ with them to set clear targets for achievement and improvement. Alongside monitoring attendance and target setting the SSO will facilitate workshop tutorial sessions which will support learners in developing their understanding of the wider world, focusing upon British Values, Prevent, Resilience and Next Steps. The Student Support Officer will play a key role in supporting a learner whilst they are undertaking their studies at college but also through one-to-one work will enable them to think clearly and ambitiously about next steps. Success in this role will be defined by the positive progress and outcomes of students, including improved attendance, academic engagement, and development. The SSO will be an advocate for students, promoting a culture of aspiration and responsibility, and ensuring each student has the support they need to fulfil their potential. Experience: • Experience of working with young people to support and motivate them to work toward their goals., • Experience of facilitating group workshops, • Proven knowledge of safeguarding prevent and current affairs which may impact young people, • Knowledge of the issues that young people face as they transition into adulthood, • Knowledge of the post 16 education system and an understanding of the UCAS application and transition process, • Up to date knowledge of the Ofsted framework Qualifications and Training: A relevant Level 3 qualification in teaching, training, or learner support, such as the Level 3 Award in Education and Training GCSE A* - C in English and Maths qualifications (Grades 9 – 4) or equivalent. Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality and Diversity, GDPR and CEOP training to be completed within one month of appointment.
