From city-based corporate functions and high-end private events to large multi-day projects, including major shows and sporting events, this business is recognised for quality, consistency, and operational excellence. Due to continued growth and an exciting year ahead, our client is expanding their senior kitchen team and is seeking a hands-on Production Sous Chef to play a key role in supporting the Head Chef and Executive Chef across the operation. The Role This is a senior, operationally focused position within a fast-paced event catering environment. The Production Sous Chef will be responsible for overseeing all food production from the companys headquarters, ensuring that events are prepared, packed, and dispatched accurately and on time. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will manage a large, seasonal team of freelance chefs and food handlers, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, organisation, and compliance. You will also work alongside the Executive Chef to ensure financial controls, portioning, and wastage targets are met, without compromising on product standards. This role is ideal for a highly organised, confident leader who thrives in structured production environments and is comfortable managing large teams under pressure. Key Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day food production from the central kitchen, ensuring consistency and quality across multiple events Lead, manage, and motivate a seasonal team of freelance chefs and kitchen staff Plan and coordinate production schedules in line with event requirements and delivery deadlines Ensure all events are correctly packed, labelled, and dispatched on time to London-based partner venues Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times Support the Head Chef with stock control, ordering, and supplier liaison Work with the Executive Chef to uphold financial controls, portioning, and wastage management Assist with menu execution, development, and logistical planning for large-scale events Act as a senior point of contact within the kitchen, leading by example in both standards and attitude About You Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous within an event catering, banqueting, or high-volume production environment Highly organised, methodical, and calm under pressure Confident managing and leading large teams, including freelance and temporary staff Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and health & safety regulations Commercially aware, with experience working to budgets and controlling costs Flexible and adaptable, with a hands-on approach and strong work ethic Passionate about delivering high-quality food at scale Whats on Offer The opportunity to work with one of Londons most respected event catering businesses A varied role covering prestigious events, venues, and large-scale projects Career progression within a growing and ambitious operation Competitive salary and a dynamic, professional working environment We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer.
