Job DescriptionPosition Description: Company Purpose/Mission: Roy Maas Youth Alternatives (RMYA) creates brighter futures for children in crisis by promoting individual success and healthy relationships in a safe, healing environment, giving children and families the tools to end the cycle of abuse. RMYA provides treatment programs for traumatized children who most often are victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse. RMYA supports using trauma-informed techniques and relationship-based approaches to create a safe environment that provides consistency, structure, and caring for the children we serve. Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician II will report to the Director of Facilities. The Maintenance Technician II will demonstrate a basic level of maintenance and repairs experience in plumbing fixtures and components, electrical fixtures, HVAC fixtures, carpentry repairs, locks, and other systems as assigned. Position requires 1-2 years of experience in Plumbing field, Electrical field, Construction field, Carpentry field, Painting, or similar industry and displays a high level of initiative to learn more about other fields while contributing to the overall team mission. Maintenance will include the preventive maintenance on all systems, equipment and components used throughout the agency to provide utilities, transportation, building comfort, and safety. This position will assist co-workers in conducting repairs when requested. The Maintenance Technician II position will also provide landscaping and grounds maintenance to their designated areas. This position will assist with volunteer activities, setting up events and programs, and participate in RMYA staff activities as required. This position will attend all mandatory training and meetings for staff and employees when requested. The Maintenance Technician II will respond to emergencies as required, assist in problem solving, and participate in the RMYA Emergency Management and Response Team. This position participates in the on-call rotation to respond to after-hours emergencies and safety concerns. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Administration: Ensure timely completion of tasks, assignments, reporting issues, concerns, or deficiencies to the SDFFS or designee.Conduct routine checks and maintenance on Life Safety Equipment, verifying the completion and all inspection dates are current.Obtain permission to purchase items for repairs and maintenance when needed. Following applicable accounting guidelines for purchases.Maintain accountability and inventory of assigned tools, parts, and materials on a routine basis.Attend routine Facilities Meetings to receive updates on projects and training on equipment.Responsible for clocking-in and out using approved time management methods, providing requests for time off in a timely manner, and tracking and certifying time on a routine basis.Function Management: Assist Maintenance Department to meet all general maintenance and repair requests at the Meadowland campus and the West Avenue campus and ensure that those requests are completed in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, and federal, state, and local codes to maintain compliance with licensing & COA standards.Ensure tools and debris are removed and cleaned prior to leaving the job site. Verify with the customer that the job meets or exceeds their request and satisfaction.Perform basic level maintenance and repair on all building systems as assigned. Basic level maintenance consists of repairing damaged walls, removing graffiti, preparing, and painting surfaces, repairing door and lock damage, replacing broke or damaged windows, responding to after-hours emergencies, conducting minor plumbing repairs, conducting minor electrical repairs, and other duties as assigned.Ensure automotive maintenance and repairs such as oil changes, minor tune ups, replacing fuses, belts, bulbs, etc. are being completed routinely or as needed.Supervise and assist residents doing work related to grounds or maintenance when possible.Relationships and Collaboration: Meet regularly with the Director of Facilities to review performance goals and workplace expectations to support success in the workplace.Attend and participate in all required professional training, workshops and or continuing education as assigned.Maintain professional and ethical standards as prescribed by RMYA and the professional code of ethics for your license.Maintain confidentiality in all areas of client and program operations.Represent RMYA in a professional manner at approved events in the community.Be supportive of all RMYA policies and procedures, and actively participate in their development by proposing changes and updates as well as working on teams designed to improve how we work together.Other Duties/Responsibilities: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Required Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience: 1-3 years of experience demonstrating an understanding and knowledge of maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, automotive repair, painting principles and practices.Certification/Licenses: Valid Texas drivers license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Must be able to work on ladders and elevated platforms. Ability to tolerate various work conditions and utilize cleaning chemicals, solutions, aerosol, and powder forms. Few opportunities to relax during shifts; constant walking, standing, bending, reaching, arm and wrist rotation, twisting, squatting, kneeling, climbing, crouching; frequent crawling, jumping, lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, pushing and pulling up to 120 pounds, grasping, pinching, confrontations with distressed youth, and driving; occasional reading, writing, and typing.Work Environment: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
