Job DescriptionMechanical Engineering Project Manager Overview We are a rapidly growing Michigan-based MEP firm with multiple offices across the State. We are looking to bring on a senior-level Mechanical Engineer to act as the right-hand to the Service Team Manager for a facilities engineering group. This role blends mechanical design, project management, and client-facing responsibilities, with a clear path into a service team manager position within 1 to 2 years. Who are we? • MEP consulting firm with three primary service groups, • Facility Engineering Services (FES) team of seven engineers, • Focus on design engineering, feasibility studies, capital improvement planning, and design-build projects, • Specializes in critical environments: healthcare, clean rooms, research facilities, and pharmacy-grade industrial facilities, • Serve as lead mechanical engineer on projects focused on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for the built environment, • Act as project manager on assigned projects after initial ramp-up (approximately three months), • Own project delivery from concept through construction documents, including coordination with internal disciplines, • Manage client relationships with building owners, owner representatives, and contractors, • Conduct assessments of existing MEP systems, identify deficiencies, and develop engineered solutions, • Support feasibility studies and capital improvement planning efforts, • Participate in design-build projects, collaborating closely with contractors and other partners, • Oversee and coordinate multiple concurrent projects, typically more than two at a time, • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit (non-negotiable), • Able to produce full contract documents in Revit, • Strong understanding of Revit and AutoCAD interfaces and workflows, • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, • Comfortable building calculators, workbooks, and performing labor forecasting, • Experience working with exported data from CRM or project systems, • Professional Engineer (PE) in Mechanical Engineering, licensed in Michigan, or, • Actively planning to obtain PE within 6 to 9 months, with a clear study plan in place, • Demonstrated client-facing experience in a consulting or design environment, • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, • Able to "flip the switch" and communicate clearly and confidently with clients and project stakeholders, • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of thoughtful, non-reactive decision making, • Helpful, but not required, • AutoCAD experience (layers, PDF to CAD workflows, integration with Revit), • Navisworks and broader Autodesk design and coordination tools, • Values a healthy, inclusive team culture and a genuine desire to learn and teach, • Looks for engineers who are curious, client-focused, and willing to go the extra mile to understand and meet project requirements, • Target base salary range approximately 90,000 to 120,000 dollars, • 7,500 dollar salary increase upon obtaining PE licensure, • Support for licensure and professional development including, • Reimbursement of study materials, courses, and practice exams upon passing the PE exam, • Coverage of license renewal fees, • Support for relevant continuing education and industry conferences, • Hybrid work structure, • Approximately 2 to 3 days per week in office, • Suggested in-office days Tuesday and Thursday on the west side location, with flexibility, • Core hours approximately 9 am to 4 pm with flexibility for earlier starts or later arrivals as needed, • Schedules are client driven when necessary (for example 8 am client meetings), • Work rarely extends past 5 pm, • Travel of about 10 percent for project sites and occasional interoffice visits, • Candidates must be based in Michigan or willing to relocate with a clear and timely relocation plan, • Experience with critical facilities such as hospitals, labs, research facilities, or complex institutional or industrial environments, • Proven track record managing multiple projects and deadlines in a consulting engineering setting, • Hybrid work environment (3 days in office), • Mobile phone reimbursement plan, • Health and Dental Insurance, • HSA Plan offered, • 15 days Paid Time Off, • 401k (up to 4% match), • Profit Sharing Plan (earn up to 15% of your salary, paid quarterly), • Company paid PE exam and keeping license up to date, • Path to promotion - For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
