Job Description GIS Data Architect ANNUAL ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE:$115,000.00 - $126,000.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly) Job Summary The GIS Data Architect will be responsible for sophisticated geospatial data models for City of Fort Collins Utilities which includes Light and Power, One Water, and Connexion (fiber). This position supports Utilities GIS in overseeing design and enhancements to utility network data models, spatial integrations, and geospatial solutions. Responsibilities include managing data integrity, standards and procedures, as well as mentoring GIS Analysts in best practices. The role requires strong technical proficiency in Esris ArcGIS product suite, geodatabase design, spatial Extract, Transform, Load (ETL), and geospatial solutions, along with the ability to communicate effectively across teams and stakeholders. This person will lead transformational change initiatives that are modernizing many aspects of the utilitys operational processes and includes but is not limited to the Utility Network data model upgrade, and will have a strong understanding of ESRI technologies such as: ArcSDE, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, Geometric Network models, and Utility Network models. Expert in spatial ETL, integrations with GIS data, data automation, and experience working for a municipal government or expertise in utility data is a plus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Collaborate with GIS data analysts, application owners, and business users to define data requirements and address data quality challenges., • Implement and refine performance monitoring, alerting, and version control for ETL/ELT processes, supporting the delivery of reliable Data Products., • Apply innovative problem-solving techniques and critical thinking to resolve complex data issues efficiently., • Translate business requirements into data movement, cleansing, and modeling solutions., • Mentor GIS data analysts, conducting code reviews, and sharing best practices., • Partner with the GIS Manager to enhance team processes, standards, and data governance practices., • Drive the adoption of data engineering best practices and frameworks., • Collaborate with the Utilities GIS team in adopting agile methodologies for efficient project delivery. Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities • Proficient in modern ELT/ETL design, implementation, and performance optimization., • Demonstrated experience pulling data from a variety of sources, leveraging both Esri technologies and database development tools., • Extensive knowledge of GIS architecture principles and data engineering best practices., • Experience managing and utilizing source code repositories in both cloud and on-premise data environments., • Proven experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, geometric data models, and utility network data models., • Expertise in data streaming technologies and integration with real-time processing systems., • Demonstrated experience with Python and the development of Synapse/Fabric notebooks for data engineering tasks., • Strong understanding of GIS data structures and reporting methodologies., • Proven experience working with spatial data in an ArcSDE environment as well as Oracle and SQL Server databases., • Ability to lead and guide teams while collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders. Minimum Preferred • College degree or equivalent work experience. Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related directly related area. Experience Requirements • Four or more years of experience in data engineering within the Esri product suite.
