What you get to do: PROJECT LEVEL DFMA APPLICATION: • Apply Bildt’s DfMA standards, guidelines, and scope boundaries across active projects., • Ensure designs achieve the appropriate level of definition and maturity for estimating, procurement, and release for fabrication or production., • Establish and apply modular, pod based, panelized, and site-built scope boundaries based on project specific constraints, opportunities, and delivery strategies., • Support project teams in aligning design solutions with manufacturing capabilities, logistics considerations, and installation sequencing., • Ensure quality and safety requirements are designed into systems and assemblies rather than inspected in later stages., • Reduce design-driven defects and rework by improving clarity, consistency, and manufacturability of designs., • Review and coordinate internal design packages, shop drawings, and fabrication models to verify compliance with DfMA standards, project requirements, fabrication, and constructability expectations., • Perform hands on technical reviews where required, while effectively leveraging VDC, drafting, or engineering support based on workload and project complexity., • Review external trade and fabrication models using project requirements and available standards., • Identify constructability risks, scope gaps, and design conflicts early in the process, and actively drive resolution prior to fabrication or procurement., • Develop and maintain project-specific scope matrices and Basis of Design (BOD) documentation., • Define and document manufactured versus site-built scope to support estimating accuracy, procurement alignment, and execution planning., • Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure scope clarity throughout bidding, buyout, and early project phases., • Work closely with Architects and Engineers to ensure a design strategy that aligns to Bildt’s industrialized construction strategy and capabilities., • Coordinate with VDC, estimating, production, and trade partners to align design intent with manufacturing requirements., • Balance direct technical involvement with delegation to supporting teams based on project complexity and resourcing., • Support seamless transitions from design into fabrication and construction by ensuring documentation is complete, coordinated, and aligned with execution plans., • Escalate decisions, deviations, or issues that impact DfMA standards, precedent, or system level assumptions to the DfMA leadership for alignment and resolution., • Support technical mentoring and development of DfMA engineers and project teams applying DfMA principles on active projects., • Capture project feedback, lessons learned, and performance insights to inform ongoing refinement of DfMA standards, details, and workflows., • Contribute to improving repeatability, quality, and efficiency across Bildt’s manufacturing efforts., • Develop and mentor DfMA Managers and cross-functional leaders in applying design-for-manufacturing principles., • Enable project teams to consistently apply DfMA standards by providing clear expectations, guidance, and decision frameworks., • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by embedding lean principles into upstream design decisions., • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, industrial design, or construction management., • Ten or more years of experience in a combination of construction and manufacturing environments., • Minimum of five years of leadership experience., • Strong understanding of design for manufacturing principles and constructability., • Experience reviewing shop drawings, fabrication models, and coordinated design packages., • Ability to work across disciplines to proactively identify and resolve issues., • Up to 10% travel. The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to maintain safety and prevent exposure to harmful materials. The environment for which this position functions may be exposed to prolonged loud noises and may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
