The Role Sloane Strategy is seeking a Social Media Strategist to own client accounts across social media strategy, account management, content development, design, and production while supporting the agency's broader digital marketing efforts. This person will independently manage client accounts, lead social-first content shoots, develop content strategies and calendars, design social media collateral, write copy, analyze performance, and translate client goals into actionable digital strategies. Strong graphic design capabilities are a core requirement of this position. The Social Media Strategist should be equally comfortable developing strategy and executing the creative needed to bring it to life, with a strong understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, branding, and social-first design. This is intentionally a cross-functional role for someone who understands how organic content, design, production, paid media, and digital marketing work together. The ideal candidate enjoys variety, wants significant autonomy, and is excited to grow alongside a boutique agency. Role Description and Expectations Social Media Management & Accounts • Manage approximately 5–10 client accounts across varying industries, platforms, and deliverables, • Serve as a day-to-day client contact and manage account needs, approvals, deliverables, and deadlines, • Develop and execute organic social strategies aligned with client goals, audiences, and brand identities, • Develop monthly content calendars and determine the appropriate mix of photography, video, graphics, educational, and promotional content, • Develop original content concepts and campaigns tailored to individual brands, • Write and refine captions, social copy, SEO-focused language, scripts, hashtags, and calls to action, • Schedule and publish content through Meta Business Suite, YouTube Studio, TikTok Studio, and comparable platforms, • Conduct quality-control reviews to ensure accuracy, brand consistency, formatting, and platform optimization, • Lead client calls, account check-ins, presentations, and strategy conversations, • Develop monthly analytics reporting, interpret performance, identify trends, and translate findings into strategic recommendations, • Monitor platform updates, algorithms, emerging formats, trends, and creative best practices, • Maintain consistency across each client's visual identity, brand voice, messaging, and digital presence Content Production & Creative • Own social-first content shoots from concept through execution, • Lead approximately 1–2 client content shoots per week throughout the DMV area, depending on client needs, • Develop shoot concepts, scripts, shot lists, mood boards, creative direction, and production plans, • Direct shoots to ensure captured assets align with content strategy, visual identity, and planned deliverables, • Capture high-quality social-first photo and video content primarily using iPhone, • Understand composition, lighting, exposure, audio, framing, movement, and visual storytelling, • Edit short-form content including Reels, TikToks, advertisements, and other social-first video, • Edit and repurpose client collateral for social, email, web, advertising, and other digital applications Graphic Design • Independently design high-quality, brand-aligned graphics and collateral using Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva, • Create graphics, carousels, stories, campaign creative, advertisements, presentations, and other digital assets, • Demonstrate a strong understanding of typography, hierarchy, composition, spacing, color, and branding, • Translate brand guidelines into engaging social-first creative without relying exclusively on pre-built templates, • Adapt creative across formats, platforms, and placements while maintaining visual consistency, • Create repeatable branded templates and design systems for client accounts, • Maintain exceptional attention to detail across spelling, alignment, formatting, image quality, and final creative output Paid Media & Digital Strategy • Support paid media strategy across Meta, Google Ads & Analytics (GA4), OpenAI Ads, LinkedIn Ads, YouTube Ads, and related platforms, • Support campaign setup, audience targeting, creative testing, optimization, and reporting, • Develop and adapt creative specifically for paid media placements, • Monitor campaign performance and contribute recommendations based on results, • Use organic and paid performance data to inform future creative and strategic decisions Onboarding and Operations As a growing boutique agency, this position will also contribute across other areas based on experience, workload, and interest, including: • Client onboarding and project management, • Prospect research, client acquisition, and business development support, • Proposal and pitch preparation, • Influencer marketing and ambassador programs, • Sloane Strategy's organic and paid marketing, • Supporting and mentoring interns, • Improving creative, production, account management, and agency workflows, • Developing systems and processes that improve efficiency as the agency scales What We're Looking For • Approximately 3–7+ years of relevant professional experience in social media, graphic design, digital marketing, agency work, or a related field, • Strong graphic design capabilities and a professional portfolio demonstrating design proficiency are required, • Portfolio demonstrating social media, design, content, and/or campaign work across multiple brands or industries, • Ability to take a client or project from strategy and concept through creative execution and publication, • Highly proficient in social-first iPhone content creation; DSLR and/or mirrorless camera experience is a plus, • Strong working knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Pinterest, and other relevant platforms, • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CapCut, and comparable creative software, • Ability to independently create polished, client-ready creative rather than relying solely on templates, • Working knowledge of paid social strategy, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, and GA4, • Knowledge of AI tools within marketing and creative workflows, including Claude and ChatGPT, • Familiarity with Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Trello, Monday.com, and comparable platforms, • Strong understanding of organic social strategy, analytics, platform best practices, and current content trends, • Excellent organization, project management, written communication, and attention to detail, • Comfortable communicating directly with clients and presenting creative and strategic recommendations, • Able to independently manage projects, deadlines, approvals, and competing priorities across multiple accounts, • Strong creative instincts and an eye for visual storytelling, • Comfortable receiving creative feedback and iterating quickly, • Comfortable in a fast-moving small-business environment where responsibilities may evolve, • Agency experience is preferred, particularly experience working across multiple clients and industries, • Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, • Ability to occasionally accommodate early morning, evening, or weekend shoots Schedule and Flexibility This is a full-time, flexible hybrid position requiring approximately two days per week in person, primarily for client work, agency collaboration, and content shoots. Shoot schedules vary based on client needs. Outside of scheduled shoots, meetings, collaborative work, and time-sensitive responsibilities, work may primarily be completed remotely with significant flexibility. This role is built around communication, accountability, quality of work, and meeting client deadlines rather than a traditional in-office 9-to-5 schedule. Candidates must be located in or near the Washington, DC metropolitan area, ideally within approximately a 30-minute commute of Georgetown, DC. Compensation $50,000–$65,000 annually, based on professional experience, portfolio strength, design and production capabilities, and breadth of digital marketing experience.
