Job Description We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join a luxury hospitality environment featuring a refined Mediterranean-inspired dining concept. The restaurant emphasizes seasonal ingredients, thoughtful execution, open-kitchen transparency, and warm, polished service within an elevated setting. The Sous Chef provides hands-on leadership across all kitchen operations, supporting the Chef de Cuisine and senior culinary leadership in maintaining exceptional standards of quality, consistency, and team culture. This role plays a key part in menu development, operational execution, and fostering a positive, professional kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities • Support the Chef de Cuisine, Senior Sous Chef, and broader culinary leadership team in all kitchen operations, • Contribute to innovative menu and product development, • Implement and uphold kitchen procedures, policies, and standards, • Lead by example to promote a positive, motivated, and professional team culture, • Ensure proper setup, sanitation, and organization of all workstations, • Oversee food storage, labeling, rotation, and temperature controls, • Accept or reject deliveries based on quality standards, • Maintain cleanliness and organization in an open-kitchen environment, • Conduct daily mise en place checks for sauces, proteins, and produce, • Perform random sanitation and temperature audits, • Review reservations and ensure appropriate staffing and prep levels, • Lead kitchen lineup and ensure punctual readiness for service, • Oversee end-of-shift breakdown and deep cleaning as a team effort, • Complete prep lists, freezer pulls, and mise en place rotation, • Check out with service leadership prior to end of shift, • Ensure compliance with all Department of Health and safety regulations, • Perform additional duties or projects as assigned by management Required Experience & Qualifications • Culinary associate degree or apprenticeship preferred, • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within a luxury restaurant or hotel setting, • Strong leadership and team-development skills, • Ability to train, coach, and mentor culinary staff, • Excellent communication and organizational skills, • Ability to work long shifts in a fast-paced environment, • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays, • High attention to detail and quality assurance, • Cultural sensitivity and professionalism, • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, • Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs, • NYC Food Handlers Card / Department of Health certification required, • Multilingual skills are a plus Compensation & Benefits • Competitive salary: $80,000–$85,000, • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, • Paid Time Off, • 401(k) Program, • Commuter Benefits, • Dining DiscountsCompany DescriptionRestaurantZone is one of the fastest-growing national recruiting agencies in the hospitality/restaurant space.
