Job Description Job Title: Junior Accountant Location: Torrance, CA Job Type: Full-time Salary: $25-$26/hr depending upon experience Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to support our accounts payable functions and assist with various general ledger and accounting tasks. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop accounting skills while working closely with field units and internal departments. Under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor, you will help ensure accurate financial transactions and compliance with organizational policies. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable (A/P) Management: • Process high-volume, full-cycle accounts payable for multiple units., • Maintain and organize vendor files and system records as needed., • Review new vendor setups and ensure compliance with W9 & 1099 requirements., • Verify invoice coding to ensure expenses are recorded in the correct accounts., • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures regarding A/P processes., • Track sales tax records for quarterly reporting., • Generate checks and prepare accompanying documentation., • Research and resolve A/P issues in a timely manner., • Follow up on outstanding or stale checks., • Ensure consistency in reimbursement and petty cash forms across all units., • File vouchers and supporting documentation appropriately., • Reconcile A/P Aging Reports on a monthly basis. General Ledger Support: • Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures., • Prepare journal entries for prepaid expenses., • Review monthly expenses and prepare necessary accruals., • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts related to accounts payable., • Process journal entries for corporate credit card transactions., • Record journal entries to allocate expenses across units or departments., • Reclassify invoices or reimbursements when necessary., • Provide backup support for accounts payable duties in the absence of other staff members., • Assist and support the Accounting Supervisor with various tasks and projects. Education & Experience: • Bachelor's degree, • Strong attention to detail and accuracy., • Ability to handle a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment., • Familiarity with general accounting principles and procedures., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software is a plus., • Good communication skills for liaising with vendors and field units., • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Essential Functions and Responsibilities • Codes such items as invoices, vouchers, expense reports, check requests, etc., with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into Allscripts., • Uses critical thinking skills to interpret information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and to follow complex dental processes, • Makes sound decisions and sets goals based on available information and evaluates situations and requirements to plan and adjust work accordingly., • Projects accurate future occurrences based on current or historic data., • Strong math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide as well as work with fractions and percentages accurately., • Handles all patient requests via phone or email., • Prepares non-inventory purchase order requisitions., • Investigates and resolves problems associated with the processing of charges., • Prepares batch reconciliation reports., • Assists with monthly status reports and monthly closings., • Ensures efficiency, accuracy, and accountability of information and data., • Performs claims processing functions in a timely and accurate manner., • Checks “superbills” for accuracy prior to entering them into the system., • Reviews and, as necessary, corrects data entry and billing errors prior to transmission., • Bills payment source(s) within 48 hours of the patient’s visit., • Posts payment checks to appropriate accounts., • Research payment denials and resubmit for payment as necessary., • Checks count of “superbills” against daily log to ensure that every patient’s visit-related paperwork has been received, posted, and billed, • Prepares month-end reports., • Looks up CPT and ICD-10 codes for accurate coding., • Performs weekly transmission of claims., • Updates daily error reports for clinic/nurse managers. Qualifications • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school;, • Two to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience., • Proficient in MS Word and Excel Software and tech savvy.
