Job Description Job Description Title: General Manager, Flooring Department Reports To: SVP, Integrated Interiors FLSA Status: Exempt Lepley Recruiting Services is looking for a General Manager to join a reputable family-owned Commercial Flooring Contractor. Summary of Objectives Leads the overall operations of the Flooring Department to drive growth, profitability, and exceptional customer satisfaction. Responsible for both sales and operational performance, including project management, financial results, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategy * Develop and execute strategic plans to expand the flooring business, aligning sales and operational goals. * Lead, inspire, and manage sales, operations, and installation teams to exceed performance expectations. * Foster a culture of accountability, quality, continuous improvement, and safety across all projects. Sales & Business Development * Direct sales initiatives including networking, marketing, prospecting, proposal development, and closing. * Support sales staff in estimating flooring and installation services; ensure proposals include appropriate terms and conditions. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, services, and competitors; analyze market trends and recommend strategies to strengthen competitive positioning. * Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication and effective coordination of order fulfillment and project execution. Operations & Project Management * Oversee all flooring and floor-care projects to ensure quality execution, timely delivery, and customer satisfaction. * Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve sales and profitability objectives. * Manage scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for personnel, equipment, and materials. * Ensure materials are delivered and stored securely; monitor project progress and address issues promptly. * Establish systems to track and measure profitability, labor efficiency, and budget adherence. Financial Management * Own the financial performance of the Flooring Department, including margin management, P&L oversight, and budget compliance. * Participate in financial planning and annual budgeting processes. * Actively support the accounts receivable process to ensure timely collections and financial accuracy. Team Development & Performance Management * Evaluate team performance; recommend actions including performance reviews, promotions, and corrective measures as needed. * Provide mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities for employees and subcontractors. * Conduct regular team meetings to communicate objectives, project updates, and performance expectations. Compliance & Safety * Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines. * Identify and mitigate risks related to contracts and project execution. * Implement and enforce safety education programs and policies for employees and subcontractors. Reporting & Communication * Prepare timely reports on sales forecasts, project performance, expenses, and customer insights. * Maintain effective communication with internal teams, clients, and other key stakeholders. Job Specifications Education & Training: Bachelorโs degree in Business, Marketing, Interior Design, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial flooring industry, including proven leadership and staff management responsibilities. Skills & Knowledge: * Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership abilities. * Strong team-building and motivational skills. * In-depth knowledge of flooring materials, installation processes, and manufacturer guidelines. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. * Proficiency
