Job Description Essential Duties: • Directly oversees the supervisory and administrative staff: includes hiring, disciplining, monitoring job performance, ensuring competency levels, recommends appropriate training, and conducts performance appraisals as required., • Forecasts equipment inventory needs including traffic control devices and shop tools; reviews and analyzes high/low levels of equipment to ensure efficient use and maximize pricing, makes recommendations to replace, repair or refurbish equipment in order to maintain efficient and safe operations., • Identifies and prioritizes major equipment acquisitions and facility maintenance needs. Generates the Capital Asset Requests for approval to make such equipment and maintenance purchases., • Maintains a current knowledge of products, pricing and supply; acts as a resource for customers, government agencies and consultants on trends as well as new products and services, • Ensures quality control and promotes positive public relations at job sites and other customer locations through attending meetings and conducting site visits., • Sources potential bids from websites, daily periodicals and leads provided by customers, both internal and external; reviews plans/bid documents in order to identify potential scope of work, • Performs take offs, prepares estimates and bid documents, and submits formal quotes to customers in a timely manner, follows up with low bidder and updates bid logs accordingly., • Prepares traffic control plans and Activity Hazard Analysis, processes submittals, provides product installation manuals and other documents as required by the customer in order to complete the job in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations., • Assists with walk-in, phone, emailed orders for rentals and traffic control services, as well as emailed job orders from other internal departments. Other Duties: • Assists the AR Specialist with documentation and data gathering for collections and/or assists with collections on select jobs., • Performs other duties as assigned., • Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies., • Reports to airconditioned Administrative office of the base yard, • Ability to work in warehouse conditions, • Day Shift normal operational hours are Monday-Friday 6:00am to 4:00pm, • Must still be available after hours, nights, weekends and holidays to facilitate business duties as they arise (i.e., emergency call-outs, safety incident response, or customer complaints, • Ability to work on various construction jobsites, including live traffic conditions, and in inclement weather. Equipment Use: • Ability to safely operate Company Vehicles of 18,000 GVW (and under) on a periodic basis, • Ability to safely operate a 10,000 GVW company pickup on a daily basis., • Ability to safely operate an LPG Forklift, • Ability to setup, program, troubleshoot and operate message boards, arrow boards, light towers, compressors and other towable equipment., • Ability to operate and train employees on the safe operation of pneumatic and power tools Mental and Physical Demands: • Able to lift 50 pounds regularly, climb ladders, • Able to work under pressure or in a deadline driven environment; the use of judgment or discretion; working with minimal (or considerable) supervision; the ability to follow instructions; quick decision- making in a fast-paced environment; use of discretion and independent judgment; collaboration and cooperation with colleagues., • Able to multitask, • Proficient in math and the ability to calculate on a consistent basis, • Must be able to pass DOT Physical Communication Demands: • Must be able to communicate orally, electronically and written with all levels of management both internally and externally, • Must be able to communicate orally, electronically and written with customers, clients and vendors, • Able to conduct presentations and training sessions with clients, employees and other members of management in group settings Minimum Qualification Requirements: Skills/Knowledge: Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Email. Adaptable to in-house software. Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete tasks in a timely manner. Calculator - 10 key by touch helpful Math - Uses basic math functions to perform daily tasks. Reading - Must be able to read and understand business documents, read road maps and basic construction plan sheets Licenses - Valid Hawaii driver's license and favorable driver history record Other - Good organizational/administrative skills to multi-task effectively. Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner. Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective internal and external communications as well as initiate/promote sales of products and services. Education: Degree in sales, marketing, business management, construction, civil engineering, general studies preferred. May substitute education with years of experience. Ability to maintain a Class 3 Drivers License. Experience: Supervisory experience and/or (3) years of experience in a similar operation, such as equipment rental operation, sales/retail environment, civil construction, government agency related to road work and/or safety. Familiarity with traffic control and general industry safety.
