POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a reliable, polished, detail-oriented, and hospitality-driven Busser to join the Moss New York team with Compass Group. Bussers play a vital role in maintaining the pace, cleanliness, and overall flow of service throughout the dining experience. This role is essential to creating a refined and seamless environment, ensuring that every table is reset efficiently, every dining space remains immaculate, and every guest feels cared for from arrival through departure. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in supporting the service team, thrives in a fast-paced fine dining setting, and understands that behind-the-scenes excellence is a key part of luxury hospitality. COMPENSATION: The hourly wage for this position is $11.35/hour tipped hourly wage. Training wage during the orientation period is $17.00 per hour. CLASSIFICATION: This is a non-exempt, hourly position. In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), you are eligible for overtime pay at one and a half times your regular rate for all hours worked over 40 in a single workweek. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The role of the Busser at Moss is to support the Server and ensure guests have an exceptional dining experience by maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment. Bussers contribute to the flow of service and hospitality by being attentive, proactive, and team oriented. • Maintain a working knowledge of the menu and be able to answer guest questions when necessary., • Ensure tables, chairs, banquettes, and floors in your section are always clean and free of crumbs., • Provide timely water service, keeping glasses between 1/3 and 2/3 full, and use a side towel to avoid splashing., • Reset tables within two minutes of guest departure with correct spacing, alignment, and all required items., • Clear tables within one minute of guests finishing meals; if clearing a large table, ask teammates for help., • Clean between courses and always crumb tables after the main course is cleared., • Offer to clear empty wine or cocktail glasses that have not been touched or refilled for more than five minutes., • Sweep under and around tables as needed; maintain fresh ice in buckets and refill water pitchers as needed., • Serve bread condiments (olive oil, butter) and remove bread plates once consumed., • Be responsible for maintaining a fully stocked and organized service station throughout each shift., • Follow instructions from Servers, Managers, and teammates to support overall service flow., • Communicate with Servers and fellow Bussers when leaving your station to ensure coverage., • Attend all menu training sessions and pre-service briefings., • Immediately report any guest complaints or comments to a Server or Manager., • Help maintain the bread, butter, and olive oil station., • Maintain proper silverware inventory and participate in monthly counts., • Assist with polishing and restocking glassware and flatware as needed., • Participate in end-of-shift cleaning duties and station reset for the following shift. STANDARDS & CONDUCT: • Always remain on the floor unless performing specific duties (e.g., clearing, restocking, preparing settings)., • Never cut off or walk in front of guests — the guest always has the right of way., • Use open-handed service and never reach across a guest with your inside arm., • Carry a sharpie, crumber, lighter, and side towel on your person always., • Communicate with Servers about water service and all corresponding details, • Ask before bringing a second bottle of bottled water and label the back of each bottle with the table number., • Remain present, alert, and anticipate the needs of guests, Runners, Servers, and teammates always., • Complete all assigned side work and closing duties each shift.QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2+ years serving experience in a high-volume, service-driven restaurant environment; upscale or chef-driven concepts preferred. • Flexible availability for AM and PM shifts, including weekends., • Strong teamwork, professionalism, and a hospitality-first mindset with excellent communication skills., • Genuine interest in seasonal, ingredient-driven cuisine with a willingness to expand culinary and beverage knowledge., • Working knowledge of classic cocktails, foundational wine varietals, and beer styles; fine-dining or craft beverage experience a plus. • Medical insurance, • Vision insurance, • Dental insurance, • 401(k), • Pre-Tax Commuter benefits, • Disability insurance Compass Group is an equal opportunity employer.
