What do I need to qualify? • Must be 16 or older, • Current YMCA Swim Lesson or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification or complete Southeast Ventura County YMCA Swim Instructor Training before teaching first lesson., • Ability to swim 50 yds/m freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke with correct technique., • Other Current Certifications:, • CPR PRO/AED/First Aid from one of the following certifying organizations:, • American Red Cross, • American Heart Association, • American Safety & Health Institute, • Ability to communicate effectively to swimmers and their parents/guardians., • Ability to plan, lead and participate in swim lesson activities., • Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child., • Ability to see and supervise children., • Ability to spend 2-4 hours in the water at a time., • Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques., • Sufficient strength and ability to react to emergency situations in an indoor and/or outdoor environment
