Job Description About the Role: The EC3 Summer Teacher plays a vital role in creating a joyful, engaging, and curiosity‑driven summer experience for students. This position supports continuous learning by designing hands‑on, developmentally responsive activities that inspire exploration, encourage learning through play, and help children discover new concepts in meaningful and imaginative ways. Through enrichment opportunities—including thoughtfully planned field trips—the EC3 Summer Teacher helps students connect learning to the world around them and stay excited about discovery all summer long. Teachers in EC3’s Summer Program cultivate a warm, inclusive environment where every child feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to grow. The role includes developing creative weekly plans, guiding students through playful and exploratory learning experiences, and monitoring progress to ensure each child receives the encouragement and individualized support they need. Collaboration is a cornerstone of EC3’s philosophy; teachers work closely with colleagues, families, and program leaders to align instruction, strengthen community connections, and foster strong teamwork among students. Ultimately, the EC3 Summer Teacher nurtures confidence, curiosity, and collaborative skills while helping students continue building academic readiness and a love of learning in preparation for the upcoming school year. Minimum Qualifications • At least 18 years of age., • High school diploma or GED., • Experience working with school‑age children in educational, camp, or youth‑program settings., • Coursework or training in education, child development, recreation, youth programming, or another child‑related field (not required to be a degree)., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging children and collaborating with families and staff., • Ability to implement engaging, developmentally responsive activities for diverse learners., • Skills in classroom or group‑management strategies appropriate for school‑age children., • Familiarity with digital tools or educational technology used in learning environments.Preferred Qualifications, • Two or more years of experience working with school‑age children in structured settings such as camps, after‑school programs, or youth enrichment programs., • College coursework or a degree (associate or higher) in education, child development, recreation, social work, or another child‑related field., • Experience designing or leading multi‑age, project‑based, or hands‑on learning activities that support academic or social‑emotional growth., • Training or certifications in areas such as behavior support, trauma‑informed practices, literacy enrichment, STEM activities, or inclusive education., • Experience collaborating with families, school teams, or interdisciplinary staff to support student needs., • Strong skills in managing group dynamics, fostering positive peer interactions, and supporting diverse learners., • Comfort using digital tools, educational platforms, or communication apps to enhance instruction or family engagement., • Bilingual or multilingual abilities that support communication with families and enrich classroom experiences., • A demonstrated passion for youth development, whole‑child learning, and creating engaging summer learning environments.Responsibilities, • Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with EC3’s summer curriculum and student needs., • Facilitate interactive learning experiences—indoors, outdoors, and through hands‑on activities—to support a variety of learning styles., • Monitor student participation and growth through informal assessments, observations, and student work; provide supportive guidance and feedback., • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom atmosphere where students feel motivated and valued., • Work collaboratively with EC3 educators and staff to coordinate activities, share resources, and ensure consistency across program groups.
