HR Generalist – West Division (Arizona) Location: Phoenix, AZ (Multi-site across OpCos) Reports To: Divisional HR Manager – West About Kelso Industries Kelso Industries is a private equity-backed platform building the nation's preferred MEP+ solutions partner. Position Summary (Impact & Opportunity) This is not a sit-behind-the-desk HR role. This is a field-facing, business-embedded HR Generalist who will support multiple operating companies across the Phoenix market. You'll work directly with leaders and employees, helping navigate real-time challenges, improve processes, and ensure HR is a true partner to the business — not just a function. You'll have visibility, ownership, and the opportunity to help shape how HR scales across a fast-growing, multi-entity environment. From employee relations and compliance to onboarding and engagement, your impact will be felt across the entire employee lifecycle. Key Responsibilities • Act as a trusted HR partner to employees and leaders across multiple OpCos, providing day-to-day support on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns, • Support leaders with coaching, documentation, and conflict resolution, ensuring consistency and alignment with company policies and best practices, • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee matters, • Own and execute onboarding processes, including pre-employment coordination, new hire documentation, and orientation to ensure a strong start for new employees, • Support employee engagement initiatives and appreciation efforts to reinforce a positive and connected culture, • Coordinate and manage offboarding processes, including exit documentation, system access removal, and exit interviews, providing insights to improve retention, • Assist employees with benefits-related questions, enrollment changes, and 401(k) inquiries, • Administer and track FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and return-to-work programs in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, • Maintain accurate HRIS data, personnel files, and reporting to support compliance and operational efficiency, • Deliver HR-related training for supervisors and support development initiatives across the workforce, • Track and report on key HR metrics (turnover, onboarding, compliance, engagement) to support data-driven decision-making, • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, while supporting audits, policy updates, and reporting requirements, • Partner with operations and safety leadership to support OSHA-related processes, incident tracking, and workers' compensation efforts, reinforcing a strong safety cultureQualifications, • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience), • 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a multi-site, field-based, or decentralized environment, • Experience supporting employee relations, HR operations, and compliance in a fast-paced setting, • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.), • Ability to build relationships and influence leaders at multiple levels of the organization, • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, • Comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy while balancing multiple priorities, • Experience in construction, trades, or field-service environments preferred, • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred (not required)Work Environment, • Field-based role supporting multiple locations across the Phoenix area, • Combination of office and job site visits Join us and be part of a team dedicated to creating efficient, sustainable, and high-performance environments that make a lasting impact across the industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors.
