Job DescriptionJob Title: Electrician Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and solar-related equipment in a safe, efficient, and code-compliant manner. You will work on commercial projects, including solar installations, ensuring high-quality workmanship, accurate wiring, and reliable operation of electrical systems and components. Responsibilities • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while performing electrical installations and related tasks., • Plan new or modified electrical installations to minimize material waste while complying with specifications, drawings, and local electrical codes., • Install electrical controls and distribution equipment such as switches, panel boards, disconnects, and inverters., • Analyze and select proper fastening systems to support electrical equipment and conduit runs securely and safely., • Terminate wiring and equipment in accordance with electrical codes, manufacturer specifications, and job requirements., • Connect power cables to disconnects, panel boards, inverters, motors, and transformers following manufacturer specifications and permitted drawings., • Prepare or interpret sketches, diagrams, and blueprints to determine the location of wiring, equipment, and devices, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before walls, ceilings, and floors are completed., • Test continuity, voltage, and overall circuit integrity using instruments such as amp probes, clamp meters, and voltage meters to verify electrical compatibility and safety., • Observe the operation of installed equipment and systems to identify hazards, performance issues, or the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement., • Install all solar-related AC and DC electrical components in accordance with project plans and applicable codes., • Install solar modules and racking systems per plans, ensuring proper alignment, structural integrity, and electrical connections., • Run and support conduit (including EMT and liquid-tight) in accordance with recommended support distances and code requirements., • Perform conduit bending using appropriate tools and methods to maintain proper bend allowances and minimize the need for additional pull points., • Install and terminate transformers, including three-phase delta primary to three-phase secondary transformers, following proper lug labeling and orientation., • Assist with generator installations, including line and load connections, miscellaneous power requirements, and communication/control wiring., • Install and orient current transformers (CTs) correctly by following arrows indicating current flow and maintaining consistent orientation and terminations., • Use appropriate fittings and sealing compounds in hazardous locations to help prevent explosions and ensure compliance with safety standards., • Pull, route, and secure electrical wiring and low-voltage cabling as required for project completion.Essential Skills, • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a commercial electrician., • Strong knowledge of local electrical codes and regulations, including proper terminations, conductor identification, and code-compliant installations., • Ability to install, terminate, and test electrical systems, including panel boards, disconnects, inverters, motors, and transformers., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting diagrams, blueprints, and sketches to determine wiring layouts and equipment locations., • Experience installing solar-related AC and DC electrical components, including solar modules and racking systems., • Skilled in using electrical test instruments such as amp probes, clamp meters, and voltage meters to verify continuity, voltage, and system performance., • Ability to run, bend, and support conduit (including EMT and liquid-tight) while adhering to proper support distances and bend allowances., • Understanding of three-phase systems, including 277/480V and 120/240V three-phase wiring color codes., • Knowledge of high-leg delta systems, including voltage and conductor identification., • Experience with current transformers (CTs), including correct orientation and terminal connections., • Familiarity with generator installation requirements, including line/load considerations and control/communication wiring., • Knowledge of transformer terminations for three-phase delta primary to three-phase secondary configurations., • Ability to work safely in compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, code-compliant work.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience installing and maintaining solar power systems in commercial environments., • Hands-on experience with conduit bending using hydraulic or other appropriate benders., • Knowledge of fittings and sealing compounds used in hazardous locations to mitigate explosion risks., • Comfort working with low-voltage systems and controls alongside standard power distribution., • Ability to plan installations to minimize material waste and maximize efficiency., • Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and correcting electrical hazards or performance issues., • Capability to work independently and as part of a team on commercial and solar projects., • Willingness to receive on-the-job You will work with a range of electrical tools and test instruments, including amp probes, clamp meters, voltage meters, conduit benders (such as hydraulic benders), and standard hand and power tools.
