Due to Sandia National Laboratories' security requirements, all candidates must be able to pass a federal background investigation and obtain site access credentials. PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to support the SWIC/WUC construction program at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA. The program is executed as a single, integrated project in the field, while being tracked as two separate projects — SWIC and WUC. Scope includes ground-up new building construction and large-scale utility infrastructure work on an active, secured federal laboratory campus. You will own submittal review, RFI coordination, BIM/MEP clash resolution, and document control, working closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure design intent is preserved in the field and that procurement, fabrication, and installation are technically aligned. At PTS Data Center Solutions, you will work alongside industry leaders on advanced mission-critical infrastructure projects. Essential Duties May Include • Manage the submittal process in Procore: log, route for review, track turnaround times, and close out; maintain submittal register against the spec., • Manage the RFI process: draft, log, route, follow up, and incorporate responses into field and shop drawings., • Lead BIM/MEP coordination in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks: support clash detection, trade interface coordination, and constructability review., • Support constructability reviews at 30%, 60%, 90%, and 100% design milestones; document and track comments and dispositions., • Maintain drawing and specification control: current sets, addenda, ASIs, bulletins, and as-built markups., • Support cost estimating at design milestones with quantity takeoffs and trade input., • Support buyout: scope sheets, bid tabulations, technical scope reviews, and subcontract exhibit preparation., • Coordinate 3rd-party testing and inspection submittals across both building and utility infrastructure scopes; track inspection reports and non-conformance reports (NCRs) to closure., • Compile and maintain commissioning documentation, equipment cut sheets, O&M manuals, warranties, training records, and record drawings., • Track long-lead equipment and materials from PO release through fabrication, shipping, and delivery; flag schedule risks., • Support change order pricing with quantity takeoffs, schedule analysis, and technical justification., • Coordinate and manage multiple trades onsite concurrently to maintain schedule and quality across building and utility work., • Attend weekly job meetings, design coordination meetings, and OAC meetings; document outcomes., • Support compliance with Sandia National Laboratories site security, access control, and safety protocols at all times. What Success Looks Like • Detail-Oriented & Analytical: Maintains accurate submittal, RFI, and document control logs with nothing falling through the cracks., • Dependable & Accountable: Takes ownership of technical coordination and consistently delivers on schedule., • Collaborative & Professional: Works effectively with the Superintendent, Project Manager, trades, and Sandia site personnel., • Proactive & Solution-Oriented: Identifies schedule and coordination risks early and drives them to resolution., • Security-Conscious: Consistently follows federal site access, security, and safety protocols. Required • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or related technical field., • Minimum 3-5 years of project engineering experience on large-scale commercial, institutional, r industrial construction projects, preferably $40M+ in value., • Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing multiple trades onsite., • U.S. citizenship (Required) — mandated by Sandia National Laboratories' security requirements., • Local to the Livermore, CA area (Required), this is a full-time, on-site role with no remote or hybrid option., • Ability to obtain and maintain site access credentials for Sandia National Laboratories, including passing a federal background investigation., • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (current, or obtained within 60 days of hire)., • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit and/or Navisworks, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel., • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, civil, and utility drawings, specifications, and BIM coordination models., • Strong technical writing, document control, and analytical skills., • Valid driver's license. Preferred • Experience with ground-up new building construction and/or large-scale utility infrastructure projects., • Prior experience on a federal, government, or secured-campus construction project., • Mission-critical, data center, or large institutional/higher-ed construction experience., • Hands-on Navisworks clash detection and BIM coordination meeting facilitation experience. Schedule & Flexibility This is a full-time, on-site role based at the Sandia National Laboratories campus in Livermore, CA, supporting the SWIC/WUC construction program. Candidates must be available to work a standard 40-hour work week on-site, with flexibility to support project deadlines, inspections, and OAC meetings as needed. This role requires daily access to a secured federal campus and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
