Job DescriptionJob Title: Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler safely moves and stages products throughout a clean, temperature-controlled production facility using sit-down electric forklifts and pallet jacks. This role supports production and packaging lines by delivering materials, picking items from inventory, and loading and unloading trucks while following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Responsibilities • Operate a sit-down electric forklift to move products throughout the facility, spending approximately 65% of the shift on the forklift., • Stage materials in designated areas to ensure production and packaging lines receive accurate and timely supplies., • Deliver products and materials to production lines according to schedules and work orders., • Pick items from inventory and storage locations using RF scanners or related tools to fulfill internal orders., • Transport products to shipping docks and prepare them for outbound shipments., • Load and unload trucks using a sit-down electric forklift, ensuring safe and efficient handling of pallets and materials., • Use pallet jacks to move pallets and materials in areas where forklift use is not practical., • Perform general warehouse tasks such as organizing inventory, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting overall material flow., • Follow GMP standards and site procedures to maintain product quality and a safe work environment., • Communicate with production, shipping, and receiving teams to coordinate material movements and resolve issues promptly., • Inspect forklifts and material handling equipment before use and report any maintenance needs., • Adhere to all safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with facility dress code requirements.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of experience operating a sit-down electric forklift in a warehouse or production environment., • Proven experience with pallet handling, including building, moving, and staging pallets safely and efficiently., • Experience loading and unloading trucks using a forklift., • Ability to perform general warehouse, material handling, and order picking tasks., • Capability to operate pallet jacks safely., • Willingness and ability to work either first shift (Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) or second shift (Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.), as assigned., • Comfort working in a GMP environment and following strict cleanliness and handling procedures., • Ability to follow directions, work as part of a team, and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Bilingual communication skills., • Experience in shipping and receiving operations., • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) processes and standards., • Experience with blending or batch mixing in a production or food-related environment., • Background in packaging, production, or general labor roles., • Experience using RF scanners for picking and inventory tasks., • Prior exposure to operating or working around packaging machinery, kettles, tanks, and production lines.Why Work Here? Work Environment The facility is very clean, organized, and temperature-controlled, with a production floor that includes packaging machinery, kettles and tanks for mixing, and multiple packaging lines. While the environment is generally comfortable, it can feel slightly warmer when working near machinery and kettles used for cooking. The site operates Monday through Friday with two primary shifts: a first shift from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and a second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. You will regularly use sit-down electric forklifts, pallet jacks, and other standard warehouse and production equipment. The facility follows GMP standards, and the dress code includes wearing hairnets, beard nets (if applicable), no jewelry, work pants, and non-slip boots. Overall, it is described as a very nice facility with a pleasant smell and a positive, professional atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broadview, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.85 - $19.85/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
