Job Description Clear Cloud Solutions is a fast-growing Electrical Contractor and Low Voltage Security Systems Integration Company seeking an experienced and proactive Accounting Lead to join our team full-time. This senior role will lead and oversee general accounting operations, with a strong focus on accounts receivable, accounts payable, job costing/WIP accounting, and month-end close processes. The Accounting Lead will also provide oversight for payroll functions and serve as a key support to the Controller, while continuing to perform hands-on general accounting tasks. We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical leader with strong construction accounting expertise who can drive accuracy, efficiency, and process improvements in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities • Lead and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close processes, • Prepare and review customer invoices; post payments and deposits; monitor customer aging and proactively follow up on outstanding balances, • Review, verify, process, code, and approve vendor invoices; resolve discrepancies and manage unpaid invoices, • Perform and review daily/weekly/monthly credit card and bank reconciliations, • Manage month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting for management review, • Oversee tracking and accumulation of project costs (materials, labor, subcontractors, overhead) and billings in WIP/Construction in Progress accounts on the balance sheet for ongoing contracts under the completed contract method, • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly WIP schedules to monitor accumulated costs, billings, and project status; collaborate with project managers on job cost reviews, estimates, and variances, • Reconcile WIP accounts and post closing entries to recognize revenue and expenses upon project completion; ensure immediate recognition of anticipated losses and proper capitalization of project costs, • Maintain organized vendor and customer files; respond professionally to inquiries and accounting-related calls/emails, • Generate and analyze regular financial reports; liaise with project managers, operations, and other departments on job-costing, billing, and financial matters, • Provide oversight and support for payroll functions, including reviewing time entries, processing bi-weekly payroll for ~70 employees, handling benefit deductions, and preparing prevailing wage certified payroll reports as needed, • Participate in or lead Workers’ Comp, General Liability, and 401k payroll audits, • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and fostering a collaborative, high-accuracy environment, • Identify process improvements, implement new procedures, and streamline accounting workflows to increase efficiency, • Assist the Controller with special projects, financial analysis, and other accounting/administrative duties as assigned Qualifications & Requirements • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger management, • 5+ years of hands-on construction accounting experience, including proven expertise tracking and accumulating costs/billings in WIP/Construction in Progress accounts under the completed contract method, • Strong knowledge of completed contract accounting, including immediate recognition of anticipated losses, proper capitalization of project costs, monthly WIP schedule preparation, account reconciliations, collaboration with project managers, and closing entries, • Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring accounting staff is highly preferred, • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas, charts) and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat, • Experience with timekeeping/job-costing systems (TSheets or similar) is a plus, • Prior exposure to payroll processing, prevailing wage reporting, and related audits is highly desirable, • Solid understanding of basic GAAP principles and construction-specific accounting practices, • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, • Professional verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact confidently and lead discussions with vendors, customers, project managers, and internal teams, • Self-starter with a strong work ethic who can work independently, as part of a team, and effectively guide others, • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred (commensurate experience considered) If you are a hands-on accounting professional with leadership experience who thrives in a growing construction company and enjoys contributing across multiple areas while supporting strategic financial operations, we’d love to hear from you.
