Job Description Job Title: Mental Health Therapist/Clinician (Pre-Licensed) Department: Clinical Services Location: Centre Lake, Ontario Remote Status: Mostly Remote with one In-Office Day Reports To: Clinical Supervisor FLSA Status: Part-Time (Non-Exempt) Pay: $55/per Session Position Summary The Mental Health Therapist provides culturally responsive, trauma-informed therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups within a community mental health setting. The therapist recognizes that many presenting concerns are adaptations to lived experiences, including trauma, systemic inequities, violence, loss, and chronic stress, and approaches care through principles of safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, empowerment, and choice. This role emphasizes healing-centered engagement rather than pathology-focused treatment. The therapist works collaboratively with clients, honoring resilience, autonomy, identity, and community context while supporting emotional regulation, relational repair, and sustainable wellbeing. Clinical Services · Provide evidence-based and trauma-informed psychotherapy (individual, family, couples, and/or group) to agency-approved and contracted clientele. · Maintain confidentiality of records relating to client’s treatment. · Conduct biopsychosocial and trauma-informed assessments that assess client’s needs and level of care, provide referrals and resources, and collateral involvement with families, other professionals and with the treatment team. · Develop collaborative treatment plans centered on client goals, strengths, and lived experiences. · Support clients in developing coping, grounding, emotional regulation, and relational skills. · Integrate modalities such as CBT, attachment-based therapy, somatic approaches, narrative therapy, and/or culturally responsive practices. · Exhibits a flexible and proactive approach to changes in the workplace. · Demonstrates reliability and professionalism. Documentation & Compliance · Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, county, and payer requirements. · Maintain ethical and legal standards of confidentiality and mandated reporting. Collaboration & Care Coordination · Coordinate care with psychiatrists, case managers, social workers, schools, courts, and community partners. · Provide psychoeducation to families and support networks when appropriate. · Demonstrates an understanding of the organization’s values and mission statement. Professional Development · Participate in clinical supervision and monthly clinical meetings and agency committees when requested. · Engage in ongoing formal and informal learning opportunities to increase clinical competence. · Monitor and address vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout through self-care and consultation. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience · Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, Clinical Counseling, Social Work, or related field. · Registered Associate and in good standing (AMFT/APCC/ASW) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or California Board of Psychology (BOP). · Experience working with diverse and underserved populations preferred · Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention · Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required Mathematical Ability · Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10’s and 100’s. Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. · Reasoning Ability: Apply logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Deal with nonverbal symbolism (e.g., formulas and equations) in difficult phases. Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: · Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation (e.g., progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, outcomes tracking) · Telehealth platforms and HIPAA-compliant video services · Secure email communication and encrypted messaging systems · Scheduling and calendar management software · Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel/Sheets, Outlook/Gmail, PowerPoint/Slides, Teams) · Electronic signatures and digital consent management · Virtual group facilitation tools (screen sharing, breakout rooms, digital worksheets) Work Environment This position serves clients in office and community settings. The therapist must be comfortable working with high-need populations while maintaining regulation, boundaries, and professionalism. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
