Job Description Augustana University invites applications for a Success Advisor in our Student Success Center. This position plays a key role in supporting the academic, personal, and vocational growth of students from their point of entry through graduation and beyond. The Success Advisor fosters persistence, engagement, and degree completion through tailored advising, career preparation, and collaborative programming. This position operates 10-months per year, August 15th to June 15th. The duties, competencies, and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: • Provide individualized academic advising to students, with an emphasis on those in Math, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, and STEM Composite majors., • Provide academic advising to students on academic probation including teaching GENL 1970: Foundations for Academic Success, a hybrid course designed for students placed on academic probation., • Guide students through the job and internship search process including resume writing, interviewing, and networking strategies., • Teach or co-teach assigned sections of FYS 1200: Vocation Within and Beyond Augustana to first-year students., • Maintain accurate and confidential student records, documenting appointments and academic interventions., • Track graduate outcomes and contribute to the university’s annual career outcomes report., • Create and maintain online career and academic resources such as Major Maps and targeted program materials., • Pre-register incoming first-year students and coordinate class schedule consultations for students who cannot visit campus during summer., • Develop and implement engagement strategies, including campaigns and events that promote student persistence and career readiness., • Coordinate the Student Advisory Board, empowering student leadership within the Student Success Center., • Oversee student employees by managing hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision processes., • Manage the Student Success Center’s marketing and social media efforts, especially the office’s Instagram account., • Support and collaborate with faculty on the STEM Scholars course, a course designed to support and build community among first year STEM students., • A Master’s degree is preferred. An advanced degree in college student personnel counseling, academic advising, or higher education preferred., • Experience in academic advising, career services, or student support roles is highly desirable., • Demonstrated desire to work in a private, church-related liberal arts environment., • Outstanding helping and interpersonal skills and awareness as well as an ability to support a variety of students., • Familiarity with emerging student success theories, retention models, and best practices in student development., • Excellent written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills., • Proficiency in Google Suite, retention platforms (such as EAB Navigate360), social media, and job search tools., • Demonstrated ability to market events, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate documentation.
