Job DescriptionFreight Forwarding Specialist with extensive experience in both import and export operations, required to have a minimum of 2+ years in each within a freight forwarding environment. Candidates must possess hands-on experience with CargoWise and demonstrate a strong understanding of international logistics processes. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end freight forwarding functions, including coordinating customer bookings, onboarding new shippers, and supporting restricted commodity submissions. Ensures all import/export documentation is accurately prepared and compliant with international trade regulations. Acts as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing shipment status, billing inquiries, service improvements, and developing new transportation lanes. Maintains strong relationships with customers, agents, brokers, and service providers to ensure service excellence and operational efficiency. Proactively identifies and resolves issues that may impact the timely movement or release of freight, including customs, documentation, and banking/letter of credit discrepancies. Provides guidance to customers on payment terms and ensures accurate invoicing, vendor payments, and billing resolution. Responsible for data integrity through accurate system entries and updates, including track and trace milestones, exception management, and reporting. Develops and provides competitive freight rates and quotes, supports dispatching carriers to CFS, FTN, and distribution centers, and coordinates complex shipments including oversized, out-of-gauge, and hazardous materials. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, including DOT, international air export requirements, Schedule B classification, and dangerous goods handling. Utilizes strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple priorities and deliver high levels of customer service. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, proficiency in computer systems, strong math skills for metric and currency conversions, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field.
