As the world’s oldest professional football club, Notts County were proud to innovate by launching a dedicated fan-zone in June 2024. The Nest attracts thousands of visitors every week and offers the potential to host events around the fixtures of both Notts County and Nottingham Forest. Our goal is to create one of the city’s most versatile venues, offering flexibility for all types of events. With access to a premium PA system, the city’s largest LED screen, staging, live entertainment packages, backstage areas, multiple power outlets both in and outside, with three fully stocked bars across a spacious, modular layout, the possibilities are endless! ROLE OVERVIEW As Deputy Venue Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of The Nest, supporting the Event and Sales Manager to deliver safe, successful, and memorable events. You’ll be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring compliance with licensing and health & safety, and maintaining high standards of customer service. This is a hands-on role that requires energy, adaptability, pragmatic solutions to improvement in the venue's operations, and strong leadership skills in a dynamic live events environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Support the Events and Sales Manager with all operational aspects of the venue, including live events, matchdays, and private hires., • Lead and supervise bar and event staff and freelance professionals such as AV Engineers and Security teams to ensure excellent customer service and event delivery is obtained., • Act as Duty Manager on events, overseeing events from build to close., • Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety, and crowd management regulations., • Assist in rostering, training, and motivating staff., • Act as the Designated Premises Supervisor., • Working with the Food and Beverage teams as well as the Events and Sales Manager to find commercial and marketing opportunities for the venue., • Liaise with promoters, production teams, and stakeholders to deliver smooth-running events., • Oversee stock control, cash handling, and operational reporting., • Support the Events and Sales Manager with event bookings, marketing and staffing where needed., • Support community and fan-focused initiatives linked to Notts County Fan-zone activities. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential: • Experience in live events, hospitality, or venue management., • Strong leadership and team management skills., • Strong Communication and Customer Service skills., • Excellent customer service ethos., • Budgeting experience and financial acumen., • Problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple events simultaneously., • Knowledge of licensing, health & safety, and compliance., • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure., • Flexibility and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and matchdays., • COSHH trained and Food & Drink Safety qualifications. Desirable: • Personal License Holder, • First Aid / SIA qualifications, • Anti-terrorism training, • IOSH trained and or the ability to support with Risk Assessments for events and venue activities., • EDI awareness and supportiveness., • Experience in a similar capacity venue, fan-zone environment and live events background.
