Job Description Quantity Surveyor Location: Basingstoke, UK (role base remains Basingstoke) Employment Type: Full-Time Salary : £65 - £75k + Package Overview We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor, ideally with heavy-groundworks and civil-engineering experience, to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of major construction projects across industrial, commercial and built-environment developments. You will support cost control, procurement, forecasting and subcontract management while working closely with project teams to ensure effective, compliant delivery. Featured Project We are working on a high-profile assignment at Atom Valley the new Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing Centre (SMMC). This 43,500 sq ft innovation-hub will support sustainable materials research and advanced manufacturing. The Irish Post+1 This project typifies the type of complex, mixed-use industrial/innovation-hub schemes you will be exposed to as QS combining early-stage civil/groundworks, MEP, shell & core, and fit-out disciplines. Qualifications & Skills Bachelors degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying Proven experience working on heavy groundworks, civil engineering or substructure/works packages Strong technical writing and reporting abilities Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly Experience working on industrial, commercial, or innovation-hub / mixed-use built-environment projects Proficiency with surveying forms, documentation, and project management / cost control systems Key Responsibilities Commercial & Financial Management Prepare and manage project cost plans, forecasts, and commercial reports Measure, price, negotiate and agree budgets and variations, particularly for groundworks, civil, substructure and structural packages Manage valuations and payment notices in accordance with contract dates and payment terms Complete subcontractor liabilities for forecasting and financial reporting Undertake external client valuations, ensuring value maximisation Prepare initial and monthly cost/revenue forecasts and support external reporting for project progress Procurement Follow project procurement schedules for timely procurement of subcontractor packages Issue and manage subcontractor enquiries especially for civil, groundworks, structural and MEP / substructure packages Evaluate subcontractor quotations and prepare comparisons and recommendations for senior review Conduct Technical Review Meetings (TRMs) with the operations team for subcontractor orders Draft accurate subcontract orders for approval Project Support & Administration Maintain accurate on-site records, photographs and documentation Liaise with site teams to prepare labour allocation sheets Lead or contribute to design coordination and project meetings (including groundworks, structural, MEP, design-team, progress meetings) Ensure main contract compliance and manage design adherence, recording variations where required Maintain collateral warranty schedules Support, mentor or supervise Trainee / Assistant Quantity Surveyors as required Benefits (customisable) 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Loyalty leave scheme Pension contribution scheme Wellbeing support Mobile phone allowance Early Friday finish / dress-down Fridays Health care and life insurance Company social events (summer & Christmas) Monthly team breakfasts & regular team-building activities Refer-a-friend incentive Cycle-to-work scheme TPBN1_UKTJ
