Are you a proactive Health & Safety professional who thrives on turning complex risks into clear, practical solutions? \n Looking for your next contract where you can make a real impact across rail and depot environments?\n \n If so, TXM Recruit are working in partnership with a high-profile railway client who are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to support their safety team on a contract basis based in West Midlands, Birmingham paying up to £500 per day.\n \n The purpose of this role is to provide expert Health & Safety support helping to identify, assess, and manage operational risks across a varied property and rail engineering portfolio. The advisor will work closely with key stakeholders to develop practical risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work, ensuring compliance while enabling safe and efficient delivery of activities.\n \n Key Responsibilities:\nReport to Interim Senior Safety Risk Manager\nCollaborate closely with Property and Depot Engineering teams to identify operational hazards and assess associated risks across a diverse portfolio of assets and activities.\nIn conjunction with related Function lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of risk assessments, ensuring they are suitable, sufficient, and aligned with current legislation, industry standards, and organisational policies.\nProduce clear, practical, and user-friendly Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) that enable safe execution of maintenance, repair, and engineering activities.\nTranslate technical and regulatory requirements into concise briefing documents, toolbox talks, and guidance materials tailored to operational teams and contractors.\nEngage with stakeholders at all levels to ensure risk controls are understood, implemented, and embedded into day-to-day operations.\nReview existing documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance, updating as required to reflect changes in processes, equipment, or legislation.\nMonitor the effectiveness of risk controls through site engagement, audits, and feedback, recommending improvements where necessary.\nPromote a proactive safety culture by encouraging workforce involvement in the development and ownership of risk assessments and safe systems of work, attending sites under accompanying (not requiring PTS) as required.\nMaintain comprehensive records of all safety documentation and ensure accessibility for relevant stakeholders.Essential/Desirable Experience:\nNEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent – essential\nRail Experience – essential\nExperience of health & safety within a property and / or engineering environmentMain Details: \n Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor \n Location: Hybrid- Based in Birmingham\n Pay rate: up to £500 per day (outside IR35) \n Contract: 3 months (potential to extend)\n \n This is a fantastic opportunity to join an exciting, friendly, and fast paced team, delivering essential services.\n \n TXM Recruit is an equal opportunities employer.
