Location: field-based role, we would consider candidates around Leeds, Crewe, Stoke, Coventry, Birmingham, Oldham, Derby About the role The Technical Support Engineer (Home Appliances) will work closely with the Technical Manager to monitor and improve the quality, reliability, and repair success rates of home appliance products. This field-based role will occasionally involve visiting end users to assess issues first-hand. This role is ideal for an experienced field engineer looking to move into a product and repair quality improvement role. The successful candidate will be proactive, technically skilled, and able to identify product quality issues, recommend effective solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities • Conduct product quality assessments and manage quality-related issues., • Provide technical support to authorised repair partners, including audits and in-field accompaniment., • Assess training needs and knowledge gaps for repair partner engineers, delivering coaching where required., • Analyse repair data to identify failure trends and recommend improvements., • Support call centre colleagues with technical queries and contribute to website FAQs., • Evaluate new products, completing full assessments of findings. Arranging first spares orders, documentation review, and training requirements., • Prepare technical bulletins for field engineers and analyse engineers usage of bulletins, • Assess failed products and prepare incident reports., • Support the Technical Manager in service partner performance reviews., • Manage product recalls and rework projects., • Complete Technical returns analysis., • Inspect incoming stock for quality compliance. Requirements • Formal technical qualifications in a relevant field., • Minimum 5 years’ experience in repairing consumer electronics or home appliances., • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel and power point, • Proven ability to review processes and procedures, propose improvements, and produce technical reports or bulletins., • Skilled in coaching and training engineers on new technical solutions., • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear guidance for different audiences., • Self-motivated and confident, with a passion for quality and efficiency improvements., • Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset for service-related enquiries., • Up-to-date knowledge of repair methods and regulatory standards., • Ability to assess quality effectively and recommend actionable improvements.
