Responsibilities will be: • Plan and deliver (from conception to completion) a strategic programme of high-quality ministerial visits and events. You will also be required to multitask multiple visits/events regularly at any one time whilst meeting line manager responsibilities., • Compile and coordinate written materials to a high standard and tight deadlines including ministerial briefings, itineraries, and other materials to support visits for ministers., • Management of IO direct report/s, with a requirement to provide leadership and effective line management, fostering a high-performance culture through clear direction and development. You must ensure their work is delivered by to a high standard and maintain continued oversight with a responsibility for clearing their work and being directly answerable to the team G7 and G6 on this., • Work closely with press office and multiple stakeholders to ensure visits and events are aligned to and deliver on m inisterial communication priorities. You will also ensure visits are creatively compiled with media and communication objectives in mind., • Planning and delivering a programme of ministerial visits and events, taking into account the wider political landscape, upcoming media announcements, as well as ministerial and governmental priorities., • Covering for the head of team Grade 7, when required., • Be able to accommodate overnight travel and early starts/late finishes in order to deliver ministerial visits and events. Person specification Essential Criteria • Experience planning and delivering visits and events for Ministers or VIPs/senior o fficials from start to finish, and confidence briefing and advising seniors., • Excellent written communication skills, with an ability to edit other peoples work to a high standard., • A strong leader with ability to mentor and manage a direct report and take on a leadership role in the team., • An ability to work calmly under pressure to tight deadlines and to very high standards. Similarly, an ability to react calmly to constant change and challenges., • Excellent communications and political nous with ability to spot a strong visit option based on the political and media landscape., • Ability to multitask and manage multiple visits and events at any one time to a high standard., • A strong leader with ability to mentor and manage a direct report and take on a leadership role in the team, with the ability to have tough development conversations where required. The successful candidate will be required to regularly deliver visits across the country, sometimes at short notice. They must also be able to accommodate overnight stays on occasion. This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account . Regular time in the office is essential when you work as part of the wider DWP Press Office.
