We are seeking an experienced Grade 7(s) for an exciting new role(s) working on arms length body reform. Government wants ALBs to have appropriate policy control and Ministerial oversight, to remove duplication and inefficiency, and to consider where bodies are purely advisory, or where they need to be independent. This post will consider our heritage ALBs as a priority for Ministers and the successful candidate will shape the work of the team from an early stage. You will need to work effectively through your team, across DCMS and with stakeholders to build consensus and ensure that Ministerial objectives are met. As the team expands you will likely have line management responsibilities. You will oversee the policy design, delivery plans and stakeholder engagement with the heritage sector, working closely with Ministers and ALBs. Close collaboration across DCMS, working with finance, legal and HR teams among others, and proven ability to bring teams together to deliver progress will be essential. You will need to be comfortable working under pressure to tight timeframes, while making sure advice is robust and evidence based. We expect immediate priorities to include: • Developing robust delivery plans, working with teams across DCMS, • Advising Ministers and No10 on policy and operational choices Person specification The ideal candidate would have the following key skills and experience. Essential requirements: • Leadership: an experienced leader who can motivate teams, with a strong sense of personal responsibility and drive for delivery. Ability to set clear vision and galvanise support across organisations., • Seeing the Bigger Picture: strong ability to develop policy at pace under pressure, proactive at identifying emerging issues, filling evidence gaps and making informed, evidence-based assessments., • Working Together: strong collaboration skills and evidence of coordinating work across multiple teams to deliver progress. Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills in a challenging and changing context., • Making Effective Decisions: comfortable working in uncertain and fast-paced environments and proven ability to make appropriate judgments under pressure. Demonstrate initiative and motivation to seek out and take on new challenges., • Understanding of working with arms length bodies. Things you need to know Selection process details This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window) , and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths and Experience. Further Information If the vacancy is offered as FTA/Loan, existing Civil Servants must join on a Loan basis only. Prior agreement to be released on loan must be obtained before commencing the application process.
