Job Description The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing exceptional service to all teammates; this position remains the main point of contact for all teammates at the plant location. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for following and implementing all HR functions, policies, and procedures. This position will support the Corporate Human Resources Department in all day-to-day operations including: recruitment, payroll, benefits, wellness, teammate relations, communication, safety, and all other duties as assigned. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Recruitment – Responsible for hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new teammates to ensure the facility is fully staffed, • Advertise open positions appropriately, • Source and screen qualified applicants, • Schedules all pre-employment screening for candidates, • Completes new hire onboarding and orientation, • Track recruitment progress and costs for all plant staff openings, • Payroll – Processes payroll for hourly teammates, • Timely completion of all new hire documentation, including attachment in HR system, • Weekly timecard review and submittal, • Completion of status change forms and review of pay change to ensure the accuracy of teammate pay, • Teammate termination process, • Benefits – Responsible for the administration of all benefits enrollment, • Supports and assists benefits enrollment, changes and issues especially during open enrollment, • Monitor and assist teammates in new hire and qualifying event Life Events completion., • Works with corporate HR to answer questions and resolve problems, as needed, • Maintains basic knowledge and understanding of benefits, COBRA, qualifying events, etc., • Wellness – Responsible for administering wellness initiatives for teammates at the facility, • Informs teammates of wellness incentives, • Communicates and encourages participation in company wellness challenges, • Manages spring wellness screenings for the entire plant facility, • Ensure wellness screening enrollment is completed timely for new hires, • Teammate Relations – Responsible for supporting teammates and plant management in resolving teammate relations issues and assisting in conflict resolution, • Field teammate complaints and work to resolve issues to the extent possible, • Properly document corrective actions, including attaching signed corrective actions in HR system, • Communicate and work with corporate HR and Legal to resolve teammate relations issues that are complex or have legal risk considerations, • Communication – Responsible for actively listening and communicating with plant management, teammates, Safety, Corporate HR, and Legal., • Help teammates understand policies, procedures, and culture, • Be available to teammates for questions, including periodically for off-shifts, • Communicate with Corporate HR – teammates on leave, questions, issues, concerns, policy exception requests, abuse of policies, compliance concerns, challenges, etc., • Communicate and distribute information as requested by Corporate HR, Safety, and Legal, • General HR Administration, • Maintain accurate teammate information in HR system, • Review and ensure completion of hourly performance appraisals, including attaching in HR system, • Accurate and timely entry of teammate termination, including attaching separation form in HR system, • Keep legal notice postings up to date, • Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, • Ability to communicate effectively, • Ability to work under pressure, • Ability to maintain confidentiality, • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and teammates, • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Outlook, • Organization skills are a must, • Ability to handle multiple tasks EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Two to four years’ experience in the Human Resources field required, as well as knowledge of the basic Human Resource functions and the laws. Formal education may be substituted with company or Human Resource experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated. WORKING CONDITIONS: This work is predominantly performed in an office setting with minimal to moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people. Occasionally, work will be performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment. The temperature of the facility will vary based on outside weather conditions. The use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance may be required as deemed necessary by management.
