Job DescriptionJob Title: Shipper & Receiver Job Description This contract-to-hire role focuses on preparing outgoing shipments and coordinating closely with the Customer Service team to ensure all shipping documents are completed accurately and on time. The position combines material handling, order processing, and general warehouse duties in a modern distribution center environment, requiring strong attention to detail, computer literacy, and reliable communication. Responsibilities • Transact customer orders using carrier platforms and the company’s ERP system to ensure accurate and timely processing of shipments., • Perform quality control inspections within the workflow to verify that orders and packaging meet required standards., • Package and tape international shipments in multi-pack cartons for export, ensuring contents are secure and properly arranged., • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons and verify that labels match shipment documentation., • Conduct accurate inventory counts at the end of each day and report any discrepancies promptly., • Serve as a back-up order picker as needed, using pick/pack processes to fulfill customer orders., • Assemble cardboard cartons for large, multipack shipments and prepare them for loading., • Move prepared shipments from the shipping cart to the dock door using appropriate material handling equipment., • Call and/or email forwarding companies to arrange shipment pick-ups and confirm schedules., • Consign shipments to freight forwarders and verify that the correct shipments are consigned by carefully reviewing documents and instructions., • Maintain good communication and rapport with co-workers to support a collaborative and efficient workflow., • Ensure the shipping area remains organized, clean, and safe, including proper staging of pallets and materials., • Keep the supervisor informed of any issues on the shipping floor, including delays, equipment concerns, or documentation problems., • Use RF scanners and other warehouse technology to track, pick, and verify orders., • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move, stage, and load materials as required., • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and distribution operations.Essential Skills, • Material handling experience in a warehouse or distribution environment., • General warehouse experience, including picking, packing, and staging orders., • Shipping and receiving experience, including working with carriers such as UPS and FedEx., • Ability to transact orders using carrier systems and ERP software with strong attention to detail., • Computer literacy, including experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook., • Ability to learn new software and applications and apply them effectively in daily tasks., • Proficient written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with Customer Service, forwarding companies, and internal teams., • Demonstrated problem-solving skills to address shipping, documentation, and workflow issues., • Experience using RF scanners for order picking and inventory management., • Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks; forklift certification required or willingness and ability to obtain certification., • Capability to perform accurate daily inventory counts and maintain organized records., • Reliability in following established processes, safety procedures, and quality standards.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with international shipping and receiving, including export documentation and multi-pack carton preparation., • Prior use of ERP systems in a logistics, warehouse, or distribution setting., • Familiarity with shipping documentation requirements for various carriers and forwarding companies., • Experience working in a high-rack warehouse environment similar to large wholesale or retail distribution centers., • Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with multiple shifts and varying workloads., • Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative mindset to support cross-functional operations., • Interest in long-term opportunities, including potential conversion from contingent worker to full-time employee based on performance and attendance.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a new distribution center in Tigard, known as the BDC, as well as additional locations, all designed with extensive racking similar to a large wholesale warehouse environment. You will work among high racks and organized storage areas, using material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scanners to stage and move orders for shipment. The facility operates multiple shifts, including day and swing shifts, with schedules such as 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., and 3:15 p.m.–1:45 a.m., Monday through Thursday or Monday through Friday, depending on location and shift. The environment is fast-paced and structured, with clear processes for shipping, receiving, and inventory control, and close coordination with Customer Service and operations teams. Work takes place indoors in a modern warehouse setting equipped with an ERP system, carrier platforms, RF scanners, and standard material handling tools, with an emphasis on organization, cleanliness, and safety on the shipping floor. Dress expectations are typical for a warehouse and distribution setting, focusing on practicality and safety to support material handling and equipment operation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tigard, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
