Job DescriptionWe are seeking a top notch Physician/ Medical Director to join a clinic in El Cajon. This person will be responsible for providing oversight for the provision of medical services and directly supervises the medical staff. The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree with a medical background, 3+ years of related experience, a license to practice medicine, and proven management experience. Responsibilities: • Consults and collaborates with all professional staff of various disciplines, • Directly supervises all licensed medical staff (including podiatry), • Provides clinical supervision for all licensed medical support staff (including RNs, LVNs, and Medical Assistants), • Indirectly supervises all medical office staff, • Serves as the licensed professional Director of the Medical Department, • Provides a variety of primary care services, • Promptly obtains and maintains hospital (staff) privileges at one (1) or more proximal hospitals in the San Diego area, • Provides for night and weekend back-up coverage for after-hours telephone triage in response to urgent cases triaged through the existing nurse line, • Collaborates in advance with the Administrative Director to ensure 24-hour on-call/triage service arrangements are made in accordance with Federal Tort Claim coverage requirements, • Makes provisions for hospital admissions of SMDC patients, • Directs and supervises departmental activities and personnel, • Develops and maintains health care and health-related programs in collaboration with the Administrative Director and designees as well as the directors of the various departments., • Legibly completes documents for record keeping and reporting purposes, assures compliance with applicable statutes, rules, and regulations and fulfills reporting requirements specified by the Administrative Director and/or SMDC’s funding agencies, • Recommends the purchase of and maintains the safe operable condition of all medical equipment, medical appliances, and hand instruments, • Purchases and maintains drugs, medication-related appliances, supplies and sundries in accordance with SMDC budgetary allowance and Fiscal Policies and Procedures, • Develops, establishes, and annually reviews Medical Department Policies and Procedures, • Reviews, updates, and approves all Medical Department protocols annually, • Enforces adherence to standards for infection control in accordance with local, state, and federal OSHA regulations Requirements: • Professional Degree from an accredited school of medicine, • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in good standing issued by the California State Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the California Board of Osteopathic Medicine, • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training, • Board-certified, California licensed Medical Doctor or Osteopathic Physician, • 3 years of progressive experience in medical staff administrative leadership, • Management/business experience in clinical operations, in ambulatory setting, • Successful completion of an accredited training program in given specialty
