Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW The Senior HVAC Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across The Westchester. This role requires advanced technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all HVAC equipment. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, works well independently and as part of a team, and maintains a professional and courteous approach when interacting with Member-Owners, staff, and vendors. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including PTAC units, air handlers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, compressors, condensers, coils, and valves., • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on HVAC systems to minimize downtime and reduce emergency repairs., • Troubleshoot and resolve leaks, clogs, electrical and mechanical faults, and other system malfunctions., • Conduct equipment condition assessments and document findings., • Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and repairs., • Monitor and adjust equipment for efficiency, comfort, and compliance with safety standards., • Assist with seasonal preventive maintenance programs, including annual PTAC inspections., • Support other maintenance functions as needed, including minor plumbing and electrical work., • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs., • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies., • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in HVAC strongly preferred., • Minimum 8 years of HVAC experience in a residential or multi-family environment., • Valid EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required., • HVAC license, • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, and PTAC units., • Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and ability to optimize system performance., • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach frequently., • Ability to lift and carry up to 65 lbs., • Comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, and in hot/cold conditions., • Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM., • Participation in on-call rotation for evenings, weekends, and holidays., • Hourly pay with overtime after 40 hours and double time on holidays., • Eligible for annual pay increase and merit bonus., • Bi-weekly direct deposit pay., • Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave., • Medical and dental insurance (85% paid by The Westchester)., • 401(k) plan (eligible after 1,000 hours of work)., • Flexible spending account (pre-tax)., • Commuter benefits (pre-tax).
