Job Description Requisition ID: req167 Location: Phoenix, AZ, United States Banner Principal Job Title: EPC Renewable Energy Project Category Manager Location: Tempe Reports To: Head of Procurement Department: Procurement Job Summary: The EPC Renewable Energy Project Category Manager will be responsible for the strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation for key categories in renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage systems. This role ensures cost efficiency, risk mitigation, and timely delivery of materials and services required for EPC projects, while maintaining compliance with company policies and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and execute category strategies for EPC renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind turbines, battery energy storage systems, and balance-of-plant components., • Determine EPC model to employ – whether EPC, EPC wrap or EPCM depending on the market dynamics and availability., • Conduct market analysis and supplier benchmarking to identify opportunities for cost savings, quality improvement, and innovation., • Develop and lead supplier pre-qualification and qualification selection criteria for project markets/regions with comprehensive and quantifiable supplier assessment scorecards., • Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives., • Collaborate with risk, compliance, engineering, project management, and finance teams to define technical specifications, EPC contract structure, procurement requirements, risk mitigation strategies, and project timelines., • Lead internal and external executive level meetings including but not limited to supplier selection, down-selection, qualification strategies and key contract (MSA and LNTP) negotiation elements, • Develop and maintain category plans, procurement KPIs, and dashboards to track performance against targets., • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, sustainability goals, and internal procurement policies., • Support tendering processes and provide commercial input into EPC project bids., • Participate in cross-functional teams for project planning, supplier risk assessment, and cost optimization. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus., • Minimum 7–10 years of procurement or category management experience, preferably within EPC or renewable energy projects., • Strong Construction management and/or oversight experience, ideally in the solar PV, wind turbines, battery energy storage systems industries., • Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies, equipment, and EPC project lifecycle., • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management., • Excellent analytical, commercial, and financial acumen., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing internal and external stakeholders., • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
